The Broad () is a contemporary art museum on Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles. The museum is named for philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, who financed the $140 million building that houses the Broad art collections. It offers free general admission to its permanent collection galleries. However, not all of its events are free and admission prices may vary by exhibit and or by event. It opened on September 20, 2015.
Since 2008, Eli and Edythe Broad and the Broad Art Foundation had been considering different sites for a museum for the art collection. In November 2008, the news surfaced that Eli Broad had approached Beverly Hills about building his museum at the southeast corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. In January 2010, he revealed that he was considering a 10-acre parcel on the campus of West Los Angeles College just outside Culver City. Meanwhile, in March 2010, the Santa Monica City Council approved an agreement in principle to lease the city-owned 2.5-acre parcel next to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium to Eli Broad for $1 a year for 99 years while also contributing $1 million toward design costs. Broad would have paid the rest, an estimated $50 million to $70 million.
One of my favorite LA area museums for contemporary art. This was my third visit here in 3 years and each time there has been something new to see. If you want to see go in the Infinity Room I strongly recommend booking an advance ticket online for an 11 am entrance and immediately putting your name on the list. This is the method that has always working for me. By noon the wait was over 2 hours long.

Had to wait a few months and got my tickets in advance, this place is the most popular museum in LA right now and the hype is not just an LA thing. The museum is amazing with so many different contemporary art paintings and sculptures every room instantly fills you with the energy inside. I have visited two times after my first and i personally love and feel art so i wouldn't want to ruin anything in my review but if you're contemplating your visit i promise you will not regret it , i feel better everytime i leave this place and i love it so much. don't get me wrong the art is not all upbeat and lovely the one thing i love about contemporary art is how unique and different it is and this museum has it all the dark and intense and the pessimistic outlook brought into such a great light i truly am a huge fan of this place and just seeing the excitement in my friends eyes and even a despair look from a stranger staring at a painting is why i come back. A great museum that belongs in LA

A pretty museum with some very cool attractions. You really have to like Modern Art though! They do have an infinity room which I am sure is very cool. There is usually a line and it does close earlier than the museum so if you want to see it, plan ahead!

My favorite museum ever. You’re always gonna find not only different but great arts and artist, some spaces are pay-only-entrance but they’re worth it. You’ll have a great time here. If you’re looking for a peaceful and clean place or just an artist-one to blow your mind.

One of my top favorite LA museums. The Broad is a contemporary art museum in DTLA. A three story museum; its exterior architecture bee hive is really amazing and so is its interior. Hence, it is one of the most popular art museum gallery in LA. General admission ticket is free and timed, so you have to book it in advance (weeks-1 month). Weekend is the most popular time. So you'll be waiting at least an hour. But its worth the wait. The galleries are well organized, spacious, clean and modern. Staff are friendly and professional. On average you'll spend a solid 1.5 hours to see every art. 🎨🖼🎭 Overall, I highly recommend this museum. 💯👍

Great space they've created here. Fun unexpected features like a window into the archival storage room in the stairway. Simple and easy to enter with prepaid tickets for Jasper Johns. Had to start there, couldn't enter museum earlier than exhibit tickets, but had the rest of the evening to explore the rest of the collection. We were there 2.5 hrs total, didn't rush feel that we saw everything. LOVED the Audio App! What a great free bonus! Does eat up at lot of battery life though so come fully charged.

Excellent modern art museum. General admission is free but ticketed via their website (you need to book a specific entry time). There is a charge for special exhibitions (and those tickets also include general admission). We came to see the Jasper Johns exhibition, which was brilliantly put together. The architecture of the building itself is nice, and the museum has a good store. Convenient (paid) underground parking.

We're not big art fans and still really enjoyed this museum for it's modern works and the cool architecture of the building. General Admin tickets are free but you have to reserve them online, usually over a month in advance for a good time slot (this doesn't get you into whatever special exhibit is currently displayed- you have to buy a separate ticket for that which we didn't do). You can also see the infinity mirror room for free, but you have to sign up via an iPad on the first floor towards the gift shop. Make sure you do it when you first arrive so you can check out the museum while you wait in the queue and they'll text you when it's your turn. We didn't realize we had to sign up and it ended up being sold out for the day by the time we realized it (around 3pm).

The architecture is fancy and new. Other than the parking fee, it is largely free. But the exhibits are not my cup of tea. Not easy to navigate in the museum. Reservation is a must, especially for groups. Did not get in the light show. Parking structure attendants are not very helpful. Better signs and instructions are needed.

I drove up to LA to visit my friend and had a blast going to the broad. It's really nice that the museum is free. The line to get in was pretty long, but it moved pretty quickly and once we got in I felt it was worth the wait. I think nearly anyone would enjoy the art that was on exhibit and to the best of my knowledge it changes from time to time. If you are in town and looking for something fun and free to do, this is definitely a good option.

This is such a cool space for modern art. The building is a stark white cube in the middle of downtown, but the interior lobby is all curves and a mixture of materials without many straight edges that reminds me of being inside an ant gallery--but not gross. They have a very cool permanent collection of modern art and a large space for their temporary collections. I feel The Broad has art that would interest almost anyone of any age and it is small enough that you can walk the entire building in less than a couple of hours. We went on a Saturday and had no problem with parking, which we found across the street for $10.

Strolling through the Broad viewing the Jasper Johns exhibition we were well received. The exhibition was impeccably curated. My friend and I went on one of their free Thursdays around 4 and waited for a short time in the standby line. All of the representatives from the Broad were extremely kind and respectful to everyone that waited. The Broad was careful not to fill the museum too full. It was a nice afternoon.

Fairly new Museum in Los Angeles with a wonderful collection of Modern Art and the occasional spectacular interactive piece great place to take families dates and so on. They are currently redoing the first floor so all of it is available to look at is the collection on the third floor be prepared to spend at least 30 minutes waiting in line and the art on the third floor can be viewed in about an hour and a half perhaps more if you would like a guided tour your best bet would be to pick a time slot for the infinity mirror interactive display and then go enjoy the collection while you wait for your time slot. Exit through the gift shop and there are plenty of wonderful neighborhood food and drink options available for basically any budget.

This is a must visit if you are around this part of the city. Visit their site for reservations on special exhibits so that you can experience the whole thing when you get there. They have their own parking lot which is $15 after validation, but we parked down the hill at a local parking lot for $8 all day. Which you should consider if you don't mind walking a bit and if you're also going to the museum of contemporary art across the street, or the Walt Disney concert Hall in the same visit. Plenty to eat around the area, if you don't mind walking to Broadway you can also experience the grand Central market and enjoy all good choices of food there.

I can't wait to get back to this place! There was alot of awesome art on the walls and after we spent a lot of time looking at everything, several hours, I was surprised it was only a small amount of their stash. When wandering around, I can't remember where but, you can see some of the other artwork hanging in their storage area. Also, the infinity room was awesome. Make sure to have your phone ready because it's a quick trip... but also make sure to enjoy the experience -- seriously, it's only 30 seconds.

Free admission. It's easy to reserved digital tickets online to send to our cell phone. A Sunday visit for 3:00. No line for us, checked in and we got in. Their own parking structure for $15. Gorgeous art and fun to walk through the gift shop. We have enjoyed our second visit to The Broad to view the new exhibits! Go and experience!

Incredibly overrated. There are a lot of museums in LA, and if you're with the right people and you just want to have a good time any of them would do. If you want to see incredible art and learn something new that might even change the way you see the world, however, this is not your best option. Go to the Getty. It's just a better museum.

OMG I cannot say enough about this Museum it was so awesome I enjoyed every single moment that I was in there and what makes his so amazing is that it's absolutely free so I cannot wait to go back to LA so I can see what new or they have posted. Now I don't know how often they update their art but hopefully I can inquire about that information. My suggestion if you are going to go would be to schedule it for the 1st opening and I believe that's at 10 a.m. and if you know what exhibits you want to see first I would go directly to them so that you can take your pictures because at 10 a.m. there's not hardly that many people so you can get really good pictures and shots so I suggest going as early as possible because as the day goes on it gets more crowded and it's hard to take those perfect shots.

The museum was wonderful. The art was amazing! Great for pictures. But I recommend that you don't bring a backpack with you because you will have to wear it in front of you the whole time. It is free to get in. There is a stand-by line and a line for people who have reserved a spot early. We waited in stand-by for about 20 minutes which wasn't too bad. The museum has it's own twitter page where it updates about how long the wait is approximately going to be. As soon as you walk in, I suggest signing in at the lobby to see the infinity mirror room. Once you've signed in, you can go ahead and browse the rest of museum and it is your turn to to see the infinity mirror room they'll send you a text.

This is a wonderful modern open space art museum located in downtown Los Angeles. The Broad has several different exhibitions every year along the with lots of art belonging to the Broad Family and other well known artists. Easy to navigate. There's a nice little gift shop. Parking is available.
