Our year membership just expired a couple days ago. We love the zoo. The food at the restaurants is a little pricey. There is a splash pad that is really neat. There are tables to sit at and bathrooms right at the splash pad. Sometimes you wonder upon an empty exhibit, but if you wait a little while the animals will appear. This zoo moves the animals around to different exhibits so they have a change of environment. You can feed the giraffes and there is also camel rides. The "walking path" is about 1 mile long.
The Louisville Zoo is a great place to visit while being in Louisville and as a resident here I like to go two or three times a year to help support the Louisville Zoo and to meet family and friends for a good time. Whether you're at the monkey exhibit or the polar bears or in between there's always something interesting to look at and learn about. They have recently expanded and added more room too existing animal exhibits to more readily showcase their living environment in the wild no matter what you're looking for a good time I work out by walking around or relaxing the Louisville Zoo is a great place to go
Great place to visit. The exhibits are very scenic. Personnel are friendly and helpful. I bought a year long pass for the whole family. We will visit numerous times. The children rode a camel and had a great time. I would suggest a visit you will not regret it.
This zoo was fun. I really liked how they had a lot of injured animals who otherwise would have a hard time surviving the wild. My favorite part was the Gorilla enclosure. Those primates loved to watch videos of other gorillas on people's cell phones. You ought to try it. It was so funny when they bang on the window whenever they want you to change the video 😆 Overall this seems like a well kept zoo and they have a good variety of animals from all continents.
I remember coming to the zoo for several field trips in Elementary school. It was always such a treat and so very informative. I attribute my love for animals to the education and opportunity to view these amazing animals. I couldn’t wait to take our kids for the first time to show them all the wonderful animals and reptiles. The renovations are stunning and Halloween at the Zoo is by far my favorite time of year! So many fond memories of this place and many more to come! Love you all and everything you do to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for these amazing creatures!!
We love this zoo! I've been going since I was little and they have really upgraded the whole place. It's very clean, beautiful atmosphere. Beautiful animals. Lots of things for kids to do. The splash ground is amazing my kids love going there to cool down after walking. The parks around the zoos have lots of fun things the kids can play on for all ages. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. I enjoy taking the kids to get some exercise. We also loved when the Lego animals were set up around the zoo with fun facts.
Good fun for the family. An easy way to kill an hour or more with small children. The layout is simple, a big loop you walk at your own leisure. Animals are pretty standard as far as Zoos go: Gorillas, Seals, Elephants, Giraffes, Lions and Tigers and Bears(Oh my), plus many more. The Halloween party is great, I would recommend going on a Thursday night after you get off work, the weekends can be very crowded.
Great place! My kids love going to the Zoo. Also is great exercise. Watch out for the Geese they roam free and sometimes can get a little too friendly. Especially if you're having a picnic. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. And the animals are always fun to see.
The Zoo is getting a face- lift. Lots of exhibits are under construction but it is still easy to get around. It was a bit breezy when we went so it wasn't a big day to see the animals out and about. Our grandson loved riding the camel, carousel, and feeding the birds. All in all it was a great day to get out and have a stroll through the zoo! We will visit again soon..
I don't know if it was weather or season or day of the week, but several attractions were closed. Overall park layout if kind of confusing. Indoor attractions have no AC and several animals inactive today. Kids enjoyed the petting zoo attraction and pony ride. 2 play places for kids to climb and play as well as a carousel. Overall kids enjoyed the zoo.
We love the Louisville Zoo. However, the last two times we went (last spring and last week) the train was not running due to mechanical issues. This is one of my son's favorite things to do. So, it was a major disappointment. Also, there were several animals not on exhibit, like the penguins, lions, gorillas, among others. Our last trip was just disappointing. It was a kindergarten field trip, so imagine the sad faces when the news of the train broke. Then the man running the carousel was downright hateful to several of the kids, I couldn't see that any of them did anything wrong, but on three different occurrences he kicked a handful of kids off for what seemed like no reason. He was a grumpy old man. Another disappointment. If you have young children I would call first to see if the train is running and if their favorite animals are on exhibit. Just a helpful hint.
This zoo is beautiful. It's one of our favorites for getting close to the animals and learning a lot about them. For the price, you can spend the whole day here and do most everything. The tram, train, and carousel cost extra. But all the demonstrations and splash park are included in the cost! We definitely recommend bringing the whole family and not missing out on this experience next time you're in Louisville!
Park was clean and such.We had a great time. Only thing I didn't like was the disrespect some people had. My ankle was at least 20 times by strollers of parents not watching what they was doing. Most never said anything to me. I ended with a bruised ankle. But that wasn't the parks fault. I plan on going back in the fall. Also buy tickets online. Line to buy was super long I bought only and they scanned my phone. Poof we was inside super easy.
I love our zoo! We have been members for 2 years now, and are never disappointed. It's the perfect place to go when the weather is nice, and as many times as we have been, there is always something going on or that has changed, like the butterfly exhibit from Idlewild, or the Lego Statues! Even when there is construction, which there is a lot of right now, they are always clean and organized. It seems that they are consistently working to improve the enclosures and habitats.
Great spot!! Kids ( 2&5 ) both loved it...was the most gorillas we've ever seen in one location which was great and my kids loved... Some areas under construction and about half of the exhibits had 1 animal so if it was sleeping or hiding out it'd be an empty exhibit... But a ton of variety from water park for kids, a couple different large playground areas then elephants to zebras and lions to butterflies and a large selection of rattle snakes... We'll definitely go back and I strongly suggest giving it a shot with the family...
An absolutely amazing local destination! There are so many positives to the Louisville Zoo: it's affordable, offers a wide range of animals from all over the world. The African exhibit was a favorite of ours... Then, when the heat is getting to you, simply head to them splash park - cools off perfectly and our 13 month old loved it. Comes with highest recommendations!
Nice zoo. It was very hot the day we went so we did not stay long or see everything. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They working are new exhibits. We live in the St. Louis area and have one of the best largest free zoos so we always take that into consideration when visiting another zoo.
We enjoy visiting this zoo! The hills and hot summer have made it hard to visit for this pregnant lady, but we plan to visit on cooler days. My kids love it and we especially enjoy the papa johns splash pad during the summer. Overall it is a fun place to visit with my kids and friends!
I love this Zoo. They are expanding many areas to give animals more space which we are thankful for. They have a carousel, train, rope course, camel ride, water park, playgrounds and trams. They have many places to eat, with vegetarian and vegan options. All food is very affordable and a single portion can usually feed myself and my husband. They have seasonal attractions, such as Lego sculpure displays (which are AWESOME!), a butterfly exhibit, and a spider exhibit (which I could do without 😱). Be advised, this is not flat terrain. There are some pretty steep hills, but lots of shade.
