Lugano (, UK also , Italian: [luˈɡaːno]; Ticinese: Lugan [lyˈɡãː]) is a city and municipality in Switzerland, part of the Lugano District in the canton of Ticino. It is the largest city of both Ticino and the Italian-speaking southern Switzerland. Lugano has a population (as of December 2020) of 62,315, and an urban agglomeration of over 150,000. It is the ninth largest Swiss city.
The city lies on Lake Lugano, at its largest width, and, together with the adjacent town of Paradiso, occupies the entire bay of Lugano. The territory of the municipality encompasses a much larger region on both sides of the lake, with numerous isolated villages. The region of Lugano is surrounded by the Lugano Prealps, the latter extending on most of the Sottoceneri region, the southernmost part of Ticino and Switzerland. Both western and eastern parts of the municipality share an international border with Italy.
Loved and enjoyed everything that I encountered in Lugano. This park along the lake was so beautiful with blooming flowers and nice places to sit and enjoy the sun setting on the mountainside across the lake. If I could afford to I would move there.

Great place for kids. Playground is well mantained and clean. Apart from the playground there is a nice walk by the promenade. The only sownside is a toilet is outside the park near the parked yachts.

Perfect place for a stroll. There is a well equipped children's playground and a small beach at the far end.

The park is really nice and fits perfectly with the whole setting of Lugano's quai. The only downside is the proximity to one of the main roads in the city, the noise and pollution created by the passing cars really takes a lot away from the relaxing atmosphere.

Parco Ciani is the single place that makes Lugano a remarkable city. It encloses the high quality of landscaping, spotless cleanliness of the streets, the diverse cultures of tourism, that are all identifying traits of Switzerland: while kissing an ever sunny lakeside which reminds one of the warm italic cities not too far south. It is the living heart of the city, the one place where you can peep a happy cohabitation between the older generation and the newer ones. It harbors a feeling of liberty that is unparalleled by it's surrounding places: with its diving trees, rolling river, and bottlenecking beach. It is also home of countless events during the summer, from longlake festival / buskers, to mazes and spoken word poetry. Not for nothing you can see Socrates unamused slouching in front of the free library, which hosts most of these events and offers outdoor chairs to everyone. There is also a very big playground for the younger ones right next to body-weight machines and near the beach, so that the whole family can have fun together. All of these elements are framed in a stunning year-round curated landscaping, whose artists consistently avoid being seen, as in the decades I have spent walking through this park I am yet to see who makes the flower arrangements and prunes the trees. It is a living, breathing display if natural art, in the form of human creativity, natural wonders and national pride. A must-visit iconic park for everyone to see.
