Melide is a municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. The village lies very close to the mountain Monte San Salvatore and is directly on the Lake of Lugano. The Melide causeway to the east was built to make it possible to cross to Bissone and to allow a north-south highway to be built.
Melide is known worldwide for the famous Swissminiatur, a museum that shows famous buildings in Switzerland presented in miniature form.
Perfect 1.5hr stop. Our boys 2 and 4 years old enjoyed checking out the miniature models and running trains/boats. The children's train ride was a fun side. Bumper boats and bumper cars are available by tokens. To those who commented that the models need updating, there were 3 models under renovation. Food at the cafe was decent. We had pasta Bolognese, a strawberry smoothie and chicken nuggets with fries. For those with kids, there is a great pirate boat themed playground across the street that we saw as we pulled out of the parking lot.

Such a nice open-air museum to explore most of beautiful landmarks in Switzerland. You can see over than 120 models.

This is really worth a visit if you are in the area. Over 125 different models of real places in Switzerland and when you have walked around the place you feel like you have seen most of Switzerland. Very well done, with moving trains, cable cars, funicular railways, cars driving to the real life Zurich airport with aircraft on the runway. Also a ride on train to sit on and see the country by rail. It takes 1.5 hours to see it all at a nice speed. Also has coffee, food, and ice cream.

Expensive, but very enjoyable. More information on each site would make it a five 🌟 experience. Two hours is about right for a visit, more if you stay for a snack. There is a good picnic area if you bring your own food.

Nice park, but small. You've seen it all in a couple of hours.

The perfect mix of kitsch and cool. The models have so much detail, even the hundreds of little people each have their own personalities.

Nicely arranged views. Unfriendly few staff members made my day a bad one. Good for kids.
