This fantastic allegorical sculpture/fountain is newly refurbished and situated on the north edge of the square. We witnessed its “rewatering” ceremony last night (22 Mar 2018) and it’s well worth a visit.

Breath taking statue symbolic of France and the 4 steeds in front of her. The 4 horses resemble the 4 rivers that cut through the country, and if I remember correctly, this statue was designed by the same man who designed the Statue of Liberty that was given as a gift to the USA after slavery was ended.
A must see gem of Lyon.

Beautiful fountain. Amazing. I love how the mist comes out the nostrils to mimic steam. Just a beautiful square with high historic surroundings.

A wonderful fountain that compliments the square accordingly. I often sit along the side of the fountain and do some people watching. The area is heavily trafficked and there are several bars around where you can take a drink and sit and marvel.

Beautiful monument, however the restaurant patios have surrounded the place, to make it worse, the city had cordened off the fountain with an 8 foot high metal grill. What a waste.

Great fountain in a nice square in a great city.
Worth a trip even if the fountain is surrounded but a cage.
