The entrance of National Archaeology Museum is to the east side of the street block. The entrance on the west side provides access only to the library and the museum of the library. It's probably worth giving an hour to the museum of the library too. I enjoyed the exhibitions there too.

Very good for families and solo travelers! Interesting exhibits in a very clear and clean layout with English captions. Great facilities too! Free entry after 2pm is a great addition too!

It's nice place. A classical museum with touches of modern (interactive) approach here and there. Going to real places (if you can) adds more to the experience, though.

Very neat. You learn a lot about the Iberian Peninsula’s history and represented artifacts from various time periods. This is a huge space and everything flows well together. It’s also not full of tourists and is free. Even better ! Definitely see this if you are in Madrid.

If you are looking for a modern concept of museum this is the one you shouldn’t skip. It contains (almost) all the most important archeological remains in Spain but you never have the impression it’s packed with them because the remains in display are the most relevant ones of that period. We recommend a two-day visit if you really fancy Spanish history and archeology, which is worth paying since the entrance ticket is pretty cheap.

Probably the best museum we have ever visited. Well planned & thorough information, & cheap entry! The audio guide kept you moving. Spent 5 hours & didn't get to the end. They very quickly & abruptly escort you out.

Great museum to learn about roman history in Spain and the iberian settlers. Outstanding multimedia integration. Great if you go alone or with a group. Very family friendly.

Very spacious building filled with bibliographical artifacts in Spanish culture. We were told there was an English-speaking area that we could browse - never found it. Staff was very friendly and courteous so that is always a plus. If you have a basic understanding of Spanish you can still visit here.

Great place to visit. Plenty of space so you never feel crowded or unable to see the exhibits. Displays well laid out with English translations on all of them and subtitles for all the videos. We only had 3 hours free and wished we had more as there were some areas we did not have time to visit. At only 3 euros, well worth the money, as indeed was the cafeteria where a very good coffee and cake only cost the same.

Great museum of both the pre-history of Humans and the history of Spain. If you like to read everything, give yourself a few hours to go through everything. Well organized in a chronological manner. I was surprised they didn't mention the Spanish Inquisition, assuming I didn't miss that. Note, this review is in English (I am from the USA - not Spain). Nearly all the displays have both Spanish and English explanations.

This is a remarkable place. Audio guides are available but if you can afford a real guide, it is worth the money. A great morning and I would recommend a beer with tapas ready for a siesta...
