The Palacio de Cristal ("Glass Palace") is a conservatory located in Madrid's Buen Retiro Park. It was built in 1887 on the occasion of the Exposition of the Philippines, held in the same year, then a Spanish colonial possession. The architect was Ricardo Velázquez Bosco.

Currently closed for renovations but still worth the visit to see the impressive Cristal palace and all the scenery around it. It looks like something straight out of a romantic fairy tale. Bring your best camera! Worth walking around as well to see the little bridges over rivers and some ducks etc. Definitely take the short walk to the man-made lake where you can rent a paddle boat. Gave four stars simply because it was a pity we could not see the inside. hope this was helpful.
Cool glass building. There wasn't an art exhibit when we were there, but it was interesting to see it empty. The pond outside is also very nice. There were many turtles floating and swimming in it, and a couple of black swans as well. There were even some turtles chilling on a little platform outside of the water to get heat from the sun. Overall, very nice.
Beautiful, quiet, relaxing, and serene place. There is a guard at the entrance who makes sure all the patrons keep quiet which is very welcome. The gardens and pond around the castle have a beautiful assortment of wildlife and walking paths. Turtles are plentiful along with huge ducks and birds. Inside the castle they have cute rocking chairs with books tied to them each containing an assortment of popular stories in multiple languages. On a sunny day this is a perfect place to find inner peace.
An incredible iron and glass structure/facility that sits within Retiro Park. One of the largest structures of its kind you can walk around a view the iron work along with amazing time work. Often there are exhibitions of various sorts within. Ponds and gardens surround the structure providing an excellent setting to relax.. picnic.
Beautiful historic building in the middle of Retiro Park, now used as an exhibition venue for large scale sculptural work and installations. It’s a challenging space that pushes contemporary artists to make their best work. The exhibits never cease to amaze. Associated with Reina Sofia Museum.
Good place to visit. It’s free to get in. There is a bathroom downstairs. It is actually not that hot inside palace. They have windows open. Lots of great photos taken.
