The Cathedral of Málaga is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Málaga in Andalusia in southern Spain. It is in the Renaissance architectural tradition. The cathedral is located within the limits defined by a now missing portion of the medieval Moorish walls, the remains of which surround the nearby Alcazaba and the Castle of Gibralfaro. It was constructed between 1528 and 1782, following the plans drawn by Diego de Siloe; its interior is also in Renaissance style.

Beautiful and a pretty huge catholic cathedral of Malaga. One of the topmost places to visit here. The architecture is gorgeous and it has a great story of construction behind it. The rooftop tour is a must for the entire feel of the place and ofcourse the view of the city and the coast from the roof. The chapels inside are beautiful and the main arch is also really nice. The whole experience takes about a couple of hours which is good for such an important landmark.
It's magnificent Cathedral is a real treasure of Malaga. A mixture of style makes the cathedral unique. The interior is Gothic, the head of the church and naves are Renaissance, and the entrance and tower are Baroque.
6,00 euro to get in per person, which isn't too bad, great place to see, sadly didn't tell me at the till I could add roof access for 4,00 extra per person... So sadly I missed out, hence 4 stars. Other than that great visit and you get audio guide in your language.
I loved Malaga. Such an interesting place. It's heritage and history is amazing. Another stunning cathedral. They are all breathtaking. The architecture is beautiful. Like all the Catholic churches in Spain. Each church has something different. A real must visit.
Impressive place. I strongly recommend rooftop tour on the sunset time.
My photos are of the nearby buildings to show how rich and wonderful this place is. The cathedral was built throughout time and different historic periods so you have lots of Moorish architecture mixed with the later Spanish, catholic touch. So locals would accept the new rulers, tendency was to build from the previous things (adding ornaments, uses, decorations) rather than destroying and making new. It is a fascinating representation of a large part of Spanish history. Totally a must see in Malaga.
Huge and very beautiful catholic cathedral. Strange about this cathedral is the mixture of styles between the entrance, head and interior. Rather unique. If you like all details you can apply on an audio guide and participate at the rooftop tour. One can discuss if it is correct or not to let visitors pay for a visit to a church. Maybe a contradiction ??
Very reasonable entry fee for €6 per adult which comes with a complimentary audio guide in multiple languages. The tour takes about half an hour and gives a description of each chapel and the architecture. Missing quite a bit of social history. Unfortunately the roof was closed due to a little rain so we weren't able to enjoy the views. The orange grove gardens are beautiful.
Oh my God, the true meaning of MAJESTIC, huge, very beautiful cathedral, a must see, when we visited there was a classical music orchestra playing. Adding to the atmosphere of the place
This cathedral took centuries to build. As a result it combines many styles and they still ran out of money and left it unfinished. If you are going then also do the rooftop tour. It is not scary or difficult to get on top and you will be rewarded with a close look at the building and great views of Malaga.
Reali nice place. From the roof you can view the whole city. Veri nice small garden and soace for rest in front of the catedral.
Charging this much for a religious building? This is HARAM. Neither the builders nor the essence of Christianity would approve this. Blue mosque in Istanbul? Completely free for everyone.. Hassan IV Mosque in Casablanca? Completely free. As if catholic church is bankrupting.. Ridiculous!
Beautiful cathedral in the heart of Malaga. The visit is quite enjoyable with the audioguide. The detailing is quite remarkable. The 6€ entrance fee is a bit high.
