Bab Al Bahrain (Arabic: باب البحرين, translitered Bāb al-Baḥrayn meaning Gateway of Bahrain) is a historical building located in the Customs Square in the central business district of Manama. It marks the main entrance to the Manama Souq.
Opened in 1949 and designed by the British adviser to the emir, Charles Belgrave, Bab Al Bahrain once stood on the Manama coastline. Due to extensive land reclamation in the later half of the 20th century, the structure is now several kilometres inland. The square is considered to be the region's first formal public space.

If you visit Bahrain, you must visit the famous "Bab Al Bahrain "... the old Manama souk is right in here... cobbled narrow alleys, traditional shops, food, people...cultures...easily the most interesting place in Bahrain.

This is a historical place in Kingdom of Bahrain. It has a great influence on tourists for local purchases. Most of the Bahrain's traditional as well as cultural varieties are seen only here. It is the place where you can get anything that you need.

The market in and around Bab Al Bahrain is fantastic. You can find anything and everything at great prices. Everyone is friendly, and the alleyways are great for finding doodads.

It is a must to see if visiting Bahrain. All the souks, coffee shops, gold market, spice shops, etc are placed in one area. Looking for Souvenirs and artisans from the local communities and the neighbor contrite then no other place better than Bab al Bahrain. You need about 3 hours in the evening to roam the whole place, avoid the weekend to enjoy it.

The spice section is my absolute fave - the scent of fresh spices is unlike anywhere else. Not fond of the misc junk stores. Several fabric and home decor souqs with beautiful wares.

Great place. Indeed you need a great wallet. A hot chocolate can cost you £17... But the Macademias that comes with it are a great reminder of a British past

If you are going to visit Bahrain. Bab AlBahrain is a good place to visit. Lots of shops are there for mobiles, accessories, clothes, Gold, Bahaini sweet....etc. The only problem is no parking over there if you are using your car. Streets are very narrow in which there is no place to park. In general it is a good experience to have.

Love this place. Great shopping experience. Rookie tourist beware. If you cannot say "No", don't come. Great food, suits, and gold. People are nice, but they will try to sell you their wares. It's the nature of the Souq.

This landmark is actually the entrance to the Souk. As a landmark it’s not exceptional, however the soup it’s self is decent. You can get custom suits made for really cheap you can find many local trinkets and souvenirs as well as electronics and pretty much anything that you’re looking for. Parking is cheap across the street. There are lots of restaurants as well as shops. It can get pretty crowded some days.

Good shopping area. But to be careful in identifying original items. May get duplicate items for the same price.

I love this place. It has a nostalgia that always comes whenever I am there. It was the intrence to the main commercial street of Bahrain. Now it is more a historic and touristic area.
