The Bahrain National Museum (Arabic: متحف البحرين الوطني) is the largest and oldest public museum in Bahrain. It is situated in Manama, adjacent to the National Theatre of Bahrain. Opened on 15 December 1988 by the Emir of Bahrain Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the $30 million museum complex covers 27,800 sq meters and is the country's most popular tourist attraction. It is believed to be the region's first modern museum.
In 1957, the first exhibition of archaeological artifacts in Bahrain occurred at the Hidaya Boys School in Muharraq in collaboration with the Danish Archaeological Expedition sent to the Bahrain Fort. The temporary exhibition lasted for a few days but drew significant interest in archaeology from the Bahraini community. In 1967, a cultural agreement was signed between UNESCO and the Bahraini government which helped pave the way for the construction of a national museum. A national museum was first opened at Government House in Manama on 4 March 1970 by the head of state council at the time, Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Nice place all from the start, with a great view of the sea and the complete map of Bahrain on floor the place really catches your interest. The museum doesn't have much on display comparing to some other places I've visited but it does keep you interested. This is a place for you if you looking to explore Bahrain's culture and history. If you went for the Islamic history this will disappoint you. All together a must weekend visit for people who cherish art and culture.

An awesome place to visit with friends and family. An outlook on the tradition and customs of ancient Bahrain. Divulge into the Islamic culture and learn about the many different other cultures that came to this amazing place. From the early life to manuscripts, documents and early tools, There's a lot to learn from history 😊.

I thoroughly enjoyed the museum and exhibits. Good luck getting an Uber back though. Make sure you have your ride back set up ahead of time.

It is a good place to visit if you want to have a glimpse of the old Bahrain. It will make you go back to the basic. You will see how awesome Bahrain is from its roots, how simple life is and how great the country is. The serenity and peace in the muse will give you a taste of Bahrain's beautiful and laid back history.

A must see for anyone visiting Bahrain. The entry is 1 BD and the entry ticket is a post card that you can keep as a souvenir. (Pretty well thought out!)It is a good place to spend about an hour and half. (Lots of historical artifacts and even a pearling exhibit is presented to the visitors!)The coffee shop is great for inviting your visitors in for a decent cup of tea or coffee.

They do some sitting place if you feel tired from walking :) (If you like the review please like it, it helps to write more such reviews, it takes just one Click to like the review:) )

I love this museum. As a family with toddlers, it is a nice place to visit for about an hour. Several displays that keep the kids entertained while learning. I highly recommend returning without the kids and reading about the Delmun and Bahrain's history. It is soooo fascinating. Every tourist should spend at least one hour here to learn about the rich history of Bahrain. You can also take a boat trip to the Fort across the Bay, only accessible through the museum. The boat ride is kid friendly and you get a beautiful view of Manama. I take all our visitor guests here and everyone loves it.

Its an excellent place of learning about history of the Bahrain and Arab countries. The museum is very well managed and exhibition is amazing. For childern ans students its a must visit place and for tourists of course before going to any place in Bahrain if they pay visit to the museum it would be very beneficial for them. They will get an idea about the geography and culture along with historical developments.

A nice museum that provides an interesting history of Bahrain. Small children may grow easily bored, though. The best place to take them is to the area with the wax dummies that recreate scenes of early Bahraini life.
