Urmston (listen) is a town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, which had a population of 41,825 at the 2011 Census. Historically in Lancashire, it is 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Manchester city centre. The southern boundary is the River Mersey, with Stretford lying to the east and Flixton to the west. Davyhulme lies to the north of the town centre. Urmston covers an area of 4,799 acres (19 km2).
The town has early medieval origins, and until the arrival of the railway in 1873 was a small farming community. The railway acted as a catalyst, transforming the town into a residence for the middle classes.

A fantastic place to take children of all ages. There is a miniature railway and at 30p very good value. The park also has the traditional park equipment, swings, slide etc. There is on street parking but it can get busy. Well worth a visit.

YOU NEED TO GO!! Miniature railway run by lovely people giving rides on their own trains for only 30p a go??! Great fun for kids and grown up kids alike! Park itself is basic but looked after, nice little playgrounds and a seemingly permanent ice cream van.... Good stuff

Attempted to visit on a rainy day. Muddy slushy grass embankment with no way of getting into the park without walking for some distance. The fabled steam trains were out of the shed and puffing, but not going round. No way of getting into the 'member area' to attract their attention and we stood on the soggy platform waiting for 10 minutes before giving up when it became clear that the driver enthusiasts were pretty much like real train drivers and the rain must have been classed the wrong sort to drive a train in. We waved at them but they ignored us. So we gave up and went home. Pretty poor show and hardly likely to make us want to come back.

Park with children's play area. Grass tends to be muddy. Excellent minature steam railway which operates on Sundays. Known locally as Chassen park. Next to main line railway station.

The park has plenty of amenities. The little train is an added extra(weekend only).

Great for young kids with a miniature railway that's well worth a trip around the park.
