Didn't know this place existed. Took the kids on a steam train from Rawtenstall to Bury. Had a 'picnic' on the train, on the way there. Because we came to Bury on the train, the ticket inspector said we got free entry to the museum. We had some time to wait for the train home so we looked for the museum. Right across the road from the station. Friendly welcome on arrival. Its only a small museum but there was lots to see, and the kids enjoyed it. They liked the old fire engine and tractors. There is the front end of a bus which the kids enjoyed 'driving' and some costumes to dress up in. Didn't take long to look round but enjoyed it.

A lovely little Museum. Been done up well (Its way better than Manchester one!) You can spend a good hour here, especially good considering it's free to visit. Lots of stuff to see and do. And good fun for kids. It's worth combining a trip on the steam train next door... Or using this place to wait for the train.

Excellent place for a family day out. Lots of models for little fingers to build and play with. Fantastic dressing up area , drive a bus model and loads of exhibits to look at .

Historic building housing all things transport, railway legacy, road transport with deference to local buses and even visual on the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal. Fabulous learning resource and model railway display.

A great place to visit for all the family. It is located just across the road from the east Lancashire train station on Bolton Street Bury. Even my 7year old grand daughter who says boring to everything....said Not Boring as she was busy with the visit there. So that's a big thumbs up from her! Interesting for adults and tons of interactive stuff for kids.....and it's free !!

A great place to visit! I hadn't even realised it was there. Originally went to East Lancs Railway. Saw this little spot when I crossed over to go and look at the castle over the road. Very glad I did spot it as it was very interesting 😊

A hidden gem in the heart of Bury. My first visit. Some restoration work in progress on newer exhibits. Would have liked to spend more time there. Will be back!

Quite small but compact. Great when used in Ramsbottom 1940's weekend as they have live dancing and music on.

Absolutely wonderful. Very well organised school trip for year 2 children. The volunteers are fantastic. The train ride is so interesting and fun and the activities on offer are great. We had an amazing educational but fun day riding the train and finding out about vehicles. Hope people continue to support the museum and train service as they both are outstanding.

Good place to visit. It was our first time here. My son had never been on a steam train before and he loved it. Went in museum staff friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely go for a second visit

It was a good museum, fairly small but, very informative, especially the staff. Really seemed to know what they were talking about. Bus enthusiast boyfriend enjoyed the buses. I enjoyed the trams. For the price of a donation, definatly would recommend/come back again.

Enjoyable with a nice ammout of interactive areas, my only downside is that it was a bit small. If you area planning on traveling on the steam trains and get the freedom of the line ticket the admission to the museum is included which is nice. Also the museum is conveniently situated very close to the stream train station.

A good selection of vintage vehicles and some great volunteers running it. If you are visiting the east Lancashire railway, its just over the road from Bolton Street station. There was one steam loco I recall, a fire engine, several buses, a ford model t van and several other vehicles. There is s bus cab that the kid can sit in and pretend to drive. Give yourself and 60-90 minutes to go round twice.
