Ordsall Hall is a large former manor house in the historic parish of Ordsall, Lancashire, England, now part of the City of Salford, in Greater Manchester. It dates back more than 750 years, although the oldest surviving parts of the present hall were built in the 15th century. The most important period of Ordsall Hall's life was as the family seat of the Radclyffe family, who lived in the house for more than 300 years. The hall was the setting for William Harrison Ainsworth's 1842 novel Guy Fawkes, written around the plausible although unsubstantiated local story that the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 was planned in the house.
Since its sale by the Radclyffes in 1662 the hall has been put to many uses: a working men's club, a school for clergy, and a radio station among them. The house was bought by the old Salford Council in 1959 and opened to the public in 1972, as a period house and local history museum. The hall is a Grade I listed building, and entrance is free.

My daughter and I visited Ordsall Hall for the first time yesterday. It was well sign-posted from the main road and there was a good size car park. We booked onto the 2pm tour with Steve which was great - very informative and funny too. We will definitely be coming back.

Went for a school trip. It was brilliant for the children. I loved how the guides stayed in character the whole time and were dressed the part 💛 The hall (and the garden!) is beautifully restored. Everything looks authentic, including the play food for the feast! The only problem was that it was freezing!!! But then I guess that's authentic too 😂

Own car park £2 for 3hours that's all you will need. Fantastic little cafe inside, interesting place to walk around. In & out in about 1½hours. Definitely worth a visit on a Sunday

Ordsall Hall is great. It's not far from Manchester city centre and has a fascinating history. The Hall has recently been renovated which has been done really well, showcasing all the features. I'd definitely recommend visiting Ordsall Hall. It's free to visit (although donations are appreciated) and the volunteers who work there are very helpful.

Went here today with my 7 and 3 year old children and we had a fantastic time! The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds were well maintained. The magic door hunt went down well with the children as did the broomstick making. I can't believe they got to take home two huge, authentic broomsticks that they'd made in the halls workshop and it was completely free! Winnie the witch was also on hand in the kitchen for spooky crafts. What super activities for budding witches and wizards during the half term leading up to Halloween. I cannot recommend it enough! We shall definitely be returning.

A gem of an historic building in what might seem to some a rather unlikely setting. Very well presented by friendly staff and volunteers. Gifts and cafe as well as a delightful building and history.

Very nice place and the staff are awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable. Dropped a star because there isn’t much furniture of the period inside, very well geared up for kids and the ones that were there when we were seemed well entertained and interested.

Attend the story time every Wednesday morning. Children love Mary who leads the class. Also school holidays they have something on daily for the children.
