Birrarung Marr is an inner-city park between the central business district in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and the Yarra River. It was opened in 2002. The name refers to the bank of Birrarung, the 'river of mists', in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, the Indigenous inhabitants at the time of European colonisation of the Melbourne area.
The 8 hectare (20 acre) park lies immediately to the south-east of the central business district, between Flinders Street and the north bank of the Yarra River, east of Flinders Street station, and west of Exhibition Street, Batman Avenue and the Rod Laver Arena.

A nice walk back to the car but boy i wish they would fix the stony paths on the riverbank

Amazing place. During Australian Open, big screens are ramped up and people just enjoy tennis. Throughout year some or other events are hosted here. Extremely scenic as one side it has Yaara and on other Melbourne's skyline.

Outstanding walk on the riverside in the heart of the city. The Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Rod Laver Arena on one side; the bridge, Crown Casino and big buildings on the other and a variety of water sports fans plus trees and a multicultural mass of people make this place a must for every Melbourne visitor.

A great spot to sit next to the Yarra river or enjoy the gardens about there. Very peaceful spot and so close to the city.

Love the walk along the bank. One of my favourite places in the city. Beautiful views of the opposite bank and river. Nice place for cycling as well. Playgrounds for the kids, and don't miss the Federation Bells. Walking distance to the sporting arenas for functions. A more pleasant walk along Birrarung Marr than from Richmond station if you have the time to spare when attending functions there.

Very enjoyable holiday, being my first trip away for four years. The weather was fantastic, with the Melbourne people, being very hospitable and helpful. Thanks to the Paradise bar on the river, excellent service, super cocktails and lovely views with polite security.

Good location by the river. Always lots of action but I suspect need to be careful out of hours as it could feel lonley. Several bars to choose from as week as river cruise options.

A good place for half of Moomba. Birrarung Marr is place for people to come together. It has a great playground for the kids and Artplay is also located here. One Melbourne's newer parks it was a good decision by council.
