Collins Street is a major street in the centre of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was laid out in the first survey of Melbourne, the original 1837 Hoddle Grid, and soon became the most desired address in the city. Collins Street was named after Lieutenant-Governor of Tasmania (then Van Diemen's Land) David Collins who led a group of settlers in establishing a short-lived settlement at Sorrento in 1803.
The eastern end of Collins Street has been known colloquially as the 'Paris End' since the 1950s due to its numerous heritage buildings, old street trees, high-end shopping boutiques, and as the location for the first footpath cafes in the city. As with all main streets in the Melbourne city centre, the Hoddle Grid is exactly 99 feet wide which would allow for the installation of trams in 1885. Blocks further west centred around Queen Street became the financial heart of Melbourne in the 19th century, the preferred home of major banks and insurance companies, a tradition which continues today with the most prestigious office blocks and skyscrapers found along its length.

I've done this tour twice now and I loved it both times. Great tour of Melbourne and some interesting stories that educate about the history of our great city. Both times Drew lead the tour and I found him to be extremely knowledgable and willing to answer all reasonable questions.

The Haunted Bookshop is a carefully curated collection by passionate historian Drew Sinton. This is not a job for him - it is his life’s work. He is unique and impressively knowledgeable. A bit of a recluse, Drew comes alive when sharing his lovely world. The Haunted Melbourne Ghost Tour is highly recommended. A life-long resident, Drew’s intimate knowledge of the city in all of its time is impressive. Drew is a charming throwback to a pre-instant world.

Excellent tour with the very knowledgeable Drew running the tour. I enjoyed learning about Melbourne's history just as much as the stories about the ghosts themselves. There was a LOT I never realised about Melbourne, despite living here for virtually my entire 36 year old life. It takes you down some laneways which is a cool way to discover some bars/restaurants you'd never have known were there otherwise! I'd definitely recommend the tour.

Our tour guide Geneva was informative and very friendly. She looked after all attendees and didn’t rush the tour at all. Geneva is a great guide and I’d recommend this activity to anyone who is looking for a great time.
