The Plaza de las Tres Culturas ("Square of the Three Cultures") is the main square within the Tlatelolco neighborhood of Mexico City. The name "Three Cultures" is in recognition of the three periods of Mexican history reflected by buildings in the plaza: pre-Columbian, Spanish colonial, and the independent nation. The plaza, designed by Mexican architect and urbanist Mario Pani, was completed in 1966.
The square contains the archaeological site of the city-state of Tlatelolco and is flanked by the oldest European school of higher learning in the Americas called the College of Santa Cruz de Tlatelolco (built in 1536 by friar Juan de Torquemada) and by a massive housing complex built in 1964.

This area needs to be better known to the world. What happened on Oct 2nd 1968 is not mentioned at all unless your guide tells you about it. Yes, there are thousands of years of history here, yet it's all very understated.

It's a bit hard to rate. We went to see memorial for those killed in 1968 by government. There is a large archeological site and a branch of university with exhibit on 1968 around the world. Unfortunately we were too late to spend time at other two.

Impressive view with lots of history. This place definitely needs to be visited, for what has happened and the students who need to be remembered.

If you know the history of this place, you will feel so overwhelmed and depressing to be there.😢 #niperdononiolvido

This spot is ok, nothing great. The Aztec ruins are interesting, but not worth more than a very brief visit.
