Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre is one of Moscow’s venues to host some exhibitions and conferences. It is located in East Administrative District directly in Sokolniki Park for Leisure and Recreation. It is one of the oldest exhibition sites and the first to start exhibition industry in Russia.
The first exhibition to be held in Sokolniki took place in 1959. The American National Exhibition was the first international event to demonstrate some foreign achievements in the USSR. Nikita Khrushchev and the US Vice President Richard Nixon officially opened the exhibition. That’s when pavilion no. 2 witnessed the legendary “kitchen debate” between Nixon and Khrushchev at the General Electric Company’s booth. During the so-called “kitchen debate” America and the Soviet Union verbally jousted over which system was superior – communism or capitalism. Since then, exhibitions received a permanent residence in Sokolniki.

I liked showcases, they are so big and bright, there are also tasty food, clean air and lots of plants in the park, the pavilions are so big and there are many interesting exhibitions, among them there are many for consumers.

The best exhibition center in Moscow to be honest. Located in the heart of Moscow, easy to reach by metro and surrounded by a great park whilst having superb parking conditions in case you want to run an exhibition. The management is great too - very flexible and always ready to help. On top of that, they have good furniture available etc. Sokolniki is better than Crocus overall. Crocus is very very far away, very expensive and you are very limited in what you can do there.

Having attended multiple events at the Sokolniki Exhibition Center over the years, I am convinced that it is one of the best exhibition sites in Moscow, if not the best. The location is unbeatable with its proximity to the city center, Sokolniki metro station, and excellent accommodation (viz. the Sokolniki Holiday Inn). The surrounding park is beautiful, replete with cafes and attractions (e.g., the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy). Each of the spacious exhibition pavilions is well-appointed, and I have been consistently impressed by booth construction on each of my visits. The staff are friendly and competent (many are English-speaking as well). Overall, it is a superb venue--easily 5 stars.
