Beautiful garden in Munich for strolls, runs, cycling, sports. Anything you like. The absolute best thing about it is the surfing at the entrance. Everyday when I was in Munich I went down to watch the surfers surfing on the man made wave. Its really interesting and fun to watch. If you can surf you should join in! :) its free as well.
The English Garden in Munich is a massive, and beautiful park in the city. During the summer, especially on the weekends, there are thousands of people enjoying, relaxing and partying in the park. The Chinese Tower and the Monopteros (Greek style temple structure atop a hillock) are the most attractive structures in the English garden. The small rivulet flowing through the park makes the park a nature lovers delight. Many skilled surfers enjoy surfing in this river, due to turbulent waves created artificially. If you are in Munich, it is a must visit !
English Garden is a wonderful garden, it is quite big. It is hiking tracks, excercise routes, mini rest areas, and a lot of lush green big areas where you can play, chat, read, sleep or whatever you like to. It is very calm and soothing there, being close to the nature and bit far from the city but it is worth visiting. There is a lake too going through it, you can enjoy the canoeing too in calm water, and play with ducks too ☺
This is my favorite place in Munich. The walking paths are wonderful. If you get hungry or thirsty there are 2 beer gardens and a few other places to stop. There are many interesting sites in the garden. Something different around each corner.
Lovely place to go for a walk. Southern half gets crowded in tyne summer, but the northern half is quieter and vast - great for jogging or biking.
Best place in Munich to hang out on a sunny day. There are lots of trees and greenery. It's also a good place to go for a walk with the dog. There are different restaurants there where one can drink lots of beer. Many people also play different sports there. You can reach directly into the park with the buses 54, 154, 150 👍
It's a very large park with lakes and tiny waterfalls. Very large gardens cover the whole area and I imagine in the summer it might be very flowery. Not in the winter though. Amazing for a bike ride or a long walk. You can even hire a carriage with horses.
One of the best places in Munich. There is so many things to do in this park. During the summer is amazing sitting along the river and enjoy the sun, do some sports or having drinks. You can even jump in the river to refresh yourself. Also, world recognized surfers go to the wave at the entrance to surf it, definitely worth it!!! Many beer gardens are around, the main touristic one is the Chinese’s Tower and the food and beer are great
A great place to enjoy the outdoors and escape the urban streets. There are plenty of walking paths, fields for lying in the sun and even a few beer gardens. The best place in Munich's city center to escape the city.
The Garden is beautiful and peaceful. Running stream and grand old trees create excellent atmosphere for relaxation. Great food at Chinese Tower. Crowded but worth going.
What a place to enjoy a sunny day... Its a great seen to enjoy the surfers on Isar River... Many people believe this is the most popular inland surfing place in the world... You can enjoy a beer or any drink and food at the China Tower beer garden with live brass music at the back ground... Great...
Often crowded, but good park. Check the northern part. It's not very crowded typically. Rent a bike and have fun...
Beautiful park in Munich. Make sure to pass by the surfing spot on the main road, very impressive! The Chinese Pavilion has a huge seating area with lots of shade provided by the trees. There are food and drink stalls where you can drink a lovely refreshing beer. I definitely recommend the 'russn' - white beer with lemon. A perfect spot to pass some time in good company on a hot summer's day.
Nice garden with long walks along small creeks and rivers as well as waterfalls! Big enough to always find enough room for yourself. Food and drinks in the Chinese Tour bier garden are expensive. Recommended.
Such a special place for visitors seeking a peaceful place and a good location for reading studying and meditating. Huge green forest full of interesting and quiet spots. For thrill seekers there is an option to surf the river or swim. Plenty of space to just lay down on great fields with friends.
Great green area! You can find from families with their kids and dogs to cold river surfers haha. It's a great place to relax and have fun!
Super huge. That's 2 words enough. But other than that, it is a HUGE place to chill and find some sun and peace. Definitely go to the beer garden in the center of the garden and if possible check out the Japanese tea ceremony they have once a week. You'd be lucky if you are in town that weekend. DONT try to walk the entire length of the garden, it's HUGE!
A must visit when you're here, they have a fun spot deep in the bar to get big brews and brats. It's a beautiful park and usually pretty populated but it's so big and quiet you won't be bothered. There's live music played from time to time by the food vendors with lots of benches so you can have a nice meal and visit with family and friends.
I am in love with this park. You could spend the whole day enjoying it and possibly I will end up doing that more often than expected this summer.
A nice large garden in the middle of city. The stream of water makes this all the more special. A great place for family, especially for the kids. A must go for the family if you are in Munich for a visit!!
Such a beautiful place! It is a lot bigger than you’d expect (bigger than Central Park) and it’s a lovely, long walk, especially great if you have a dog. We were lucky enough to have nice weather, which helped. There are also food and toilet facilities and it’s very well sign posted (although only in German that we saw). Lovely park for both tourists and locals!
Very good park just a short walk from the Old Town. Large boating pond with pedal boats for hire. The park stretches for 5km end to end so plenty if space to walk or cycle. Open spaces for games and paths amongst trees and shrubs. Also horse drawn carriage rides. Roughly in the middle is a beer garden with a variety of food stalls and plenty of open air seating. Try and see the skills of the surf boarders surfing the standing wave just inside one of the park entrance. An excellent place for a slower paced day away from the busy city streets.
Holy smokes, do yourself a favour and visit this spectacular oasis in the centre of Munich. Rivers and lakes flow through this gigantic park with huge expansive greens and miles of walkway (don't be spooked by nude sunbathers by the river). The park is dotted by traditional Bavarian restaurants and is frequented by both locals (who dress up nice in their Trachten on Sundays) and tourists. Lunch at the Chinese Tower is often accompanied by an orchestra. There are boat and bike rentals available.
A beautiful place to relax especially in the afternoon or evening during summer. Cool rivers within the park to cool you down when it's a little too hot. If you're a nature lover like I am, you're at home in the park.
I would recommend for those coming to Munich to visit this English Garden. The name is rather confusing for a garden which is located in Germany rather than in England. The landscape gardening of the garden is said to follow England style. The English Garten is really huge and you will appreciate walking between a little lake full of lovely ducks and a river where swans are elegantly swimming. Do make sure that you see the river surfers which is located at the south of the garden. The lovely garden is so much more than a garden. There is a lake, beer garden and small river in addition to the miles of walking/running paths. It is a wonderful place to spend some time enjoying the sites or just doing nothing but watching the people walk by. Make sure that you wear comfortable shoe as this garden is even larger than the New York Central Park!
