We had a planned visit to the museum with our family and it was an amaizing trip. If you are in Munich, it is a must visit. The museum is pretty big and it takes time to see all the halls. If you are hungry, there is a pancake house nearby, Mr. Pancake (5 minutes of walk), with hot American style pancakes, fresh orange juice, and coffee.

Really great museum. It's got a wide variety of artifacts and artworks. The basement is full of religious figurine scenes, which may not sound interesting but it really was cool. Can't beat the price at one euro per person.

An interesting walk through history up to 1900s. There are some stunning pieces and this place worth visiting if you have time. There are audio tours available and the entrance fee was 7€ on 04/10/17. Lockers are available it bring a 1€ or 2€ coin (it is refunded at the end).

Wonderful exhibition. Thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful armery painting and sculptures.

Perhaps I went to this museum with the wrong expectations. I was looking for something unique to the history of the local area, culture, customs and cities. Instead this is a run of the mill history museum with plenty of old Christian artefacts, swords, armour and furniture. There are some cool old models of German towns but very little specifically about the local area. As a tourist to Munich I wouldn't recommend spending your limited time in this museum.

Very interesting museum! Go see the Ritterrüstungen or old cloaks of the cleric. I liked best the rooms where they rebuild interiors of pubs or adminstrations. On sundays the entry fee is only 1€!

Too much religious pieces but a very good museum. Very well organized and beautiful

I loved the armor and weapons collection. Do get an Audioguide If you don't speak German

Magnificent collection of medieval and early Renaissance German art, particularly wood carvings. Reminds one that human beings have produced great artists throughout human history.

A lovely museum with plenty to see! I'd say it takes about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to go around, maybe even longer if you are using the free audio guide that is available. There is a lot of Bavarian history so it's an ideal first stop for the area! The main downside is that there was an inconsistent amount of English translations on the descriptions. In one room there are translations on them all, and then in the next it would only be German and no audio. Also it does not take card, so make sure you bring enough for the €12 per person entry! Other than that, the pieces are beautiful and it is highly informative.

An absolutely stunning collection of all sorts of art throughout the medival and later periods as well as other pieces like armor and weapons. It's absolutely fascinating the variety of works and art displayed. If you want to see some amazing classic German artwork I highly recommend this museum for anyone. Many of the display descriptions are in German, however they offer free audio guided in a variety of langauges that are very comprehensive. We only had 3 days in Munich and this was a fantastic choice. Right next to the English gardens and the surfing spot as well, near public transport.

Impressive building - exhibition concept is however stuck in the 90ies.

Fairly large museum with multiple floors and gallery. Can easily spend the entire day there. Recommend to get audio guide for better immersion.

This place looks small from the outside but is rather large. Starts out with some smaller, boring stuff and gets more interesting the further in you go. On Sundays it only costs one Euro to enter and worth a visit a rainy day.

If u are in munich on a sunday , this is one of the place open on sunday, and it only cost 1 euro for entry. However, the descriptions in the museum are mostly in german, no english translation. This is kinda disappointing.
