The Hofgarten (Court Garden) is a garden in the center of Munich, Germany, located between the Residenz and the Englischer Garten.
The garden was built in 1613–1617 by Maximilian I, Elector of Bavaria in the style of Italian Renaissance garden. In the center of the garden is a pavilion for the goddess Diana, built-in 1615 by Heinrich Schön the elder. A path leads from each of the eight arches. On the roof of the Diana pavilion, is the replica of a sculpture of Bavaria by Hubert Gerhard, created in 1623. The original is in the Kaisersaal of the Residenz.
The residence is gorgeous. Superb visit. Every room is beautiful. Just take your time to take it all in!

Beautiful place but it will take a lot of time to go through the entire place. The free audio guide is helpful to understand better about the rooms and their history. Although some of the rooms were closed for restoration during my visit, I was thoroughly exhausted after the tour. My advise is to save up some energy for more interesting/significant rooms toward the end of the tour.

This palace is a complex of a lot of buildings combine each other. The visiting may take time for 2-3 hours. Because there are many details and many pieces of precious arts in many area of complex. Anyway there's short route for visitors, if you have time about 1 hour.

This residence is beautiful and is a must-see if visiting Munich. There is much to like, from the architecture to artwork. Take your time and you'll notice a lot - for example some of the paintings have cut marks on them from WW II, and have been put back together.

What a beautiful and vast palace! The architecture and art inside are fantastic. I especially loves the displays of sleighs and carriages. Located downtown Munich, it is a great location for a day's visit.

First problem was to find the entrance to the residence. But after that like in charming you will get into most beautiful (imo) and most richly decorated palace I've ever seen in central Europe. As a rule of thumb: every king of Bavaria was appending new wing to the building (not reusing old ones) and was decorating it to show richness and power of Bavarian kingdom. So be prepared to spend ~4 hours to see all the beauty of it.

This place is huge. Take your walking shoes. If you do the audio tour, be forewarned that it drones on and on and on. Interesting place though. Pretty sure everything is gilded. Lots of construction going on right now, so some exhibits may not be available. Very much worth a visit. Particularly enjoyed the crown jewels museam.

It is a wonderful place to visit. The Residenz is huge so one should wear comfortable shoes and requires plenty of time to see all the exotic rooms. The ceiling art, paintings and architecture is amazing.

If you have at least 4h - go and enjoy this amazing place. Unfortunately more than half of it was lost during WW2 but whatever is left and restored completely worth visit.

A must see while in Munich. An added bonus is that it's few min walk from main square I'm old town. You can easily spend from 2 to 6 hours there depending on how many sections you will visit. Don't miss the jewelry collections. Amazing is an understatement. IMHO beats those in the tower of London. The apartments are also as good as napoleon's at the louvre

Not crowded so you will enjoy every corner. Only that it'll be difficult to find the entrance. Skip Mondays to be able to see most of the rooms. The big hall of decorative art collection is very beautiful. I didn't add it to my list of sites as I was going to see many palaces and museums; I advice you to put it in mind because it's worth the visit and takes 2 hours max

We didn't know what to expect going in, so we were very impressed with the wonderful and extensive collection of artifacts from the Bavarian royal family and the preservation of their rooms. We were also a bit overwhelmed by the sheer size of the estate and the amount of walking to get through it all. This is more like a full-size museum than other house tours we've done. We were worn out by the end and glad we didn't have our young kids with us since their attention span would not have held.

Much like many of Munich's old buildings, the buildings in Munich Residenz has impressive architecture and a massive size to go along with it. There are two museums located inside the complex and the entry fee isn't even that high. Accessibility is also top notch, as it is within walking distance from the Marienplatz station and is nearby to many other attractions like St. Peter's Church. Tourists who are in the area should stop by this place, it's well worth it.

Very well maintained and the entrance fee is very reasonable. As a few others have mentioned, however, we did have a run-in with an exceedingly rude/grumpy staff member who got angry after my son turned on one of the lamps (a modern one, not a museum piece). He began to follow us, basically breathing down our necks. Then later my daughter touched the edge of one of the tables and he started to yell at us and tell us that our kids were a problem. They were actually being very well behaved and were genuinely interested. It was very unfortunate because after they lost interest in the museum, and to be honest, so did I.

This palace is very easy to go as it is within walking distance of Marienplatz. This palace contains furniture, paintings and sculptures, today the museum contains bronze work, clocks, tapestries, porcelain and several special collections such as masterpieces of bronze art.
