Viktualienmarkt – Munich – Germany We just loved this daily food market! We were not sure how to pronounce Viktualienmarkt, but it was not difficult to get there since is really center located in Munich and it’s just a fun place to stay for few hours, have some food and drinks with lots of people around! The farmer’s market that is really popular for gourmets has a bit of everything you can imagine. You will find cheese, fruits, flowers, good wine, sausages, traditional German food, non traditional German food and, of course, lots of beer. We arrived there after a day walking around the historic old town then we had a kind of later lunch or earlier dinner and it was surprising really affordable since it’s also a place that has lots of tourists. We loved the ambience, the building around are really charming, people were having lots of fun and we could enjoy a great time with a good beer getting a sit in one of the tables around the restaurants. We just wish to have another day to go back there, but our schedule was really overbooked until our next destination. Grade: Eli = 4, Serge = 4 Recommend: Totally, great food and beer for a good price

Clean and tidy market. Lots of ready to eat food too. There is a very popular sausage stall, I saw everyone order their white sausage. We followed and ordered one, it was great! However, I cannot find a single store selling mulled wine in a winter.

Huge variety of delicious local food as well as a great open air market. A really cool place to take in some local flavor! Possible downside, not much for seating at a lot of the walk up food vendors, and restrooms are scarce.

A very typical market full of colours and flavours. There are a lot of small places to have a beer or a nice meal for good prices. As any other fine market anywhere in the world, there are lots of locals shopping or just having a beer, so be patient during your visit.

Nice buzz about the place, even in inclement weather. Great selection of food and beers. Highly recommended

Amazing place to stop in and visit. Probably some of the best bratwurst we had while in Germany! So great to stop in and take in the scenery, surroundings, culture. I loved this experience. If you are in Munich this is a must stop to try. They also have a beer booth that changes beer houses each month. So each month they have different featured beers. So neat!!!

A great place where you can find a fresh and juicy raspberry in winter or early spring and it will be 100% tasty. Not limited to common berries, they offer exotic fruits, vegs and spices from all over the world. There's a beer garden nearby, if you like.

This fish market was a very unexpected and pleasant surprise for us. Its located beside a farmers market and this fish market one ups the Pike Place Market in Seattle. No there aren't any singing fish slingers anywhere to be seen. BUT, where they do better is they have multiple counters where they can choose whatever seafood you like and they will cook it up for you to eat.it was terrific! They had HUGE prawns that weighed nearly 100g each that my wife had with a salad that she said was incredibly fresh and I had a delicious half lobster tail with garlic sauce and rosemary potatoes. Next time we are in Munich, we will definitely be back!

Lots of booths with local crafts and foodstuffs. Many of the same thing however, so it's tough to distinguish between which are worth patronizing as a first time visitor. You can get snacks, provisions for cooking a big meal, or just something on the go. Try the soup kitchen, it has excellent soups!

Great place to grab lunch and a beer. It was pretty busy with both tourists and locals. Prices are reasonable and the food/drinks were pretty good. The shade from the trees provided great shade from the hot summer heat. Great way to see the true culture of Munich. The other part of the victuals market contained craft and flower shops. You can get some fun souveniers that aren't so touristy, or admire the fresh flowers in the boutiques. They smelled really nice.

Cool spot. Bought a watermelon after walking all day. Kind enough to cut it up for me so I could enjoy it right then and there. Awesome market with negotiable prices. Has everything you need.

A have-to experience in Munich. So many vendors- sights, smells, and sounds abound. Wind your way through the crowds and visit the Cathedral, Town Hall and more. I recommend that you eat at the Ratskeller restaurant in the basment of the Town Hall after watching the Glockenspiel performance. Its a beautiful restaurant serving authentic Bavarian fare. Great ambiance. There is also a quiet little bistro off the side of the main restaurant that is cozy and quaint. Loved it dearly!

This market is definitely a must see if one goes to Munich. The variety of fresh produce is fascinating. So many things to try and taste.

Amazing market! Numerous stalls with a lot of variety. This market does not suffer from many stalls selling the same item. If something is in season you will see it at many stalls, but otherwise everyone is offering different items. Tea, coffee, fruit, vegetables, meat, beer, bread, etc. If you're up early it is very nice to walk through the market before the crowds. You get to chat with the vendors and try samples before thei attention needs to go to the masses! Highly recommend a walk here.

Awesome place. If the weather is good this is the best place to eat local products. Huge square with an amazing market within, and tons of restaurants sharing one big group of tables (as a terrace) right in the middle under a tree area that makes it really comfortable. You can pick up the food in any restaurant or food stand, sausages, pork knuckle, soups, fish, salads, cheeses, quiche, meats,... It's a must for Munich visitors.

Fantastic market in the heart of Munich. Be sure to check out the fresh produce and food products on sale everyday. Recently I found some really nice homemade pesto for sale at one of the stands. Some people complain about the huge amounts of tourists but personally I don't feel like it takes anything away from the spirit of the market.

Great market where you can find many type of food. Typical Bavarian, Sergio's, pastries, Mediterranean, vegan, salads and beers and drink... anything. There are many tables to have a sit in the middle of the square to enjoy your meal. You can meet and know many people because tables are shared. A lot of locals seem to go there. You should try!

Great area to grab a beer and some food! Just a reminder that on Sunday’s the market stalls are not really open just the beer stall and some food stalls around it. As long as you buy a beer you can sit at the tables and even bring your own picnic. The stall rotates between the original breweries. The day we were there hey were selling Paulaner. It was nice to sit under the trees and take a touring break. The May Pole is very close and you can see it from the tables.

A nice atmosphere and some great aromas surrounding this traditional German market. Buy some meat, freshly baked bread and some olives, then sit down an enjoy some really great beer, maybe even a litre if you are feeling brave! A nice place to visit even if you don't plan on buying anything because there is plenty of tasters!
