The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is a concert hall in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Ground was broken on December 3, 2003. The center formally opened on September 9, 2006, with a gala concert conducted by Leonard Slatkin and broadcast by PBS affiliates throughout the state. The center is named in honor of Kenneth Schermerhorn ( SKUR-mər-horn), who was the music director and conductor of the Nashville Symphony from 1983 until his death in 2005; the center was named before maestro Schermerhorn's death.
At the heart of Schermerhorn Symphony Center is the 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2), 1,844-seat Laura Turner Concert Hall, which is home to the Nashville Symphony. The hall is of the shoebox style. It features natural lighting, which streams in through 30 soundproof, double-paned clerestory windows. Intricate symbolic motifs appear throughout the hall and the rest of the center, including irises (the Tennessee state flower), horseshoes (a tribute to the late Laura Turner's love of horses) and coffee beans (representing Nashville's Cheek family, which played a key role in the founding of the Nashville Symphony and also originally owned the Maxwell House Coffee brand).

First, the Schermerhorn is a beautiful venue. In a city that is overflowing with great places, it is a genuine treasure. And the staff make the visit even more enjoyable. Those impressions came before hearing the Nashville Symphony, which I found to be divine! I can't wait to go back and be immersed in those sounds again.

A beautiful music venue! I’ve been here many times and I’m always very pleased with my experience. Depending on what you see here you can usually find a good deal on tickets. I have sat in the balcony, main floor, side balcony, and behind the orchestra; and they all were good seats. I will say, though, that if you can get a seat in the middle of the main floor (avoid the front row, go back a few) you should. The sound quality is very good there!

We have been to the Schermerhorn/Nashville Symphony Center four times and I love the facility. It is beautiful and the acoustics are amazing. The staff is helpful...they sales staff helped me with a ticketing snafu last season and really jumped through hoops to make it right. The ushers are lovely. This past show I forgot my tickets on the kitchen table and the box office will call printed new ones with no hassle. The bartenders are quick at making drinks! We have tickets to three more shows this season and I am looking forward to all of them. Their schedule has amazing variety!

If you haven't seen the Grammy Winning Nashville Symphony play, DO IT! The tickets are not too expensive and there is not a bad seat in the house! (Cheaper seats might be in the balcony, but it's still such a wonderful experience!!) The Schermerhorn Hall is breathtaking all by itself...throw in beautiful music and it's an evening to remember.

Have been to two events at this lovely facility. First to see Kenny Loggins which included a behind the scenes your with my daughter's high school marching band. Last we visited to take my see one to see/hear Peter & The Wolf and we all loved it. Beautiful acoustics. Seats in the seemingly least desirable area (in the very back ) are more comfortable than the side so don't feel bad if you spend less. If your into taking binoculars you could but certainly not necessary as this is not an overly sized venue. It beautifully meets in the middle with beauty, charm and overall appeal.

The symphony is a great place to go and hear not only classical music but a large variety of other music as well. The inside of the concert hall is absolutely gorgeous. For the best view of the musicians and sound quality I recommend sitting in the orchestra section somewheres between 5 and 10 rows back. If you're a student interested in classical music I highly recommend participating in the soundcheck program which allows students to buy $10 tickets it's for themselves and one other to any of the classical series concerts.

Nashville Symphony is beautiful and intimate. They offer such clever programming. The focus and the artists are ever changing. I relish each event I attend and I never leave disappointed. I've cried, I've danced, I've sang along with the performers. But the Orchestra...they are truly amazing, and they are the reason I return again and again.

Visited here on a vacation with my wife and heard some very beautiful music. I play the violin and cello and belong to a Chamber Group. It was worth the trip from Hawaii.

This was the third of the movie series and the third time I’ve been. If you’re a former musician, the most hidden gem is sitting behind the orchestra. You get a private screen and the ability to watch all of the players and choir. It has been amazing! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

One of the most beautiful and acoustically perfect concert hills in the United States. Gorgeous architecture crowns the warm and crisp acoustics. It really makes everything played by the orchestra sound spectacular. The city must feel quite proud of this venue. It's neoclassical concept contrasts with the many modern buildings around downtown, adding a nice touch to the atmosphere. There are several hotels within walking distance, whichs makes the Symphony a desirable get away destination for a weekend.

One of Nashville's top attractions. The building itself is beautiful and the symphony is fantastic. They host such a broad variety of programs that everyone can find a show they want to see. I would like to recommend that their movie performances include fresh popped popcorn. The staff is very helpful. Be sure to eat dinner before you come because the cafe only has a limited amount of cold sandwiches.

First time to the Schermerhorn. It was very beautiful. Went to see Harry Potter event. The orchestra was awesome. Wish the video didn't have subtitles and was better quality.

Excellent concert venue. Just the right size to feel cozy but not too confining. Great acoustics. They have a wide range of musical programs from classical to rock. Also play movie soundtracks while showing the movie. Easy parking at the Nissan stadium then a short walk across the bridge. You can also take the Music City trolley if you are already downtown or staying in a nearby hotel. Otherwise, parking can get expensive.

World class! Architecture, cleanliness and well preserved and maintained. The building structure alone will blow your mind. Acoustically perfect, balcony seating. Not a bad seat in the house. You can almost sit on stage in the box seats I sat in. Extraordinary! Nashville symphony was world class as well. The conductor was very passionate in his work and presentation

We love going to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center! They always have amazing events going on. When the symphony is playing, sitting behind the stage is my favorite. You can really see the musicians up close. But as you can see from the pictures, sitting in front of the stage gives you great views, too. The symphony is incredible, I highly recommend checking it out.

Listening to the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, watching Start Wars, A New Hope, enjoying family... This was the perfect venue for us to see this collaboration. What a stunning, memorable time we had!! The Symphony is just spectacular, and of course the movie a classic!

I saw the Star Wars: A New Hope movie and symphony and I was blown away with the performance. The symphony did an awesome job that the whole event felt like I was in a taping of the movie. Great job by the Nashville Symphony. The only area of opportunity would be the sound balance between the movie conversations and the music. There were times it was hard to hear the discussion when the music was playing. The subtitles helped. Thank you for putting this event together.

Wonderful facility. Orchestra sounded great. They were playing a support role during our visit on June 29, 2018. They were backing Rick Springfield and his band covering Rick's tunes from the 70's to present day. The previous night they were joined by Roger Daltry performing Tommy in it's entirety. Missed that one but attendees said it was Outstanding!
