Wow! What a great place this is must I say. Started off by coming in to an enormous room with gigantic towering pillars which are some greatly impressive architecture. Came in thinking this would be a quick walk through with a some models to looks at and fossils however I was greatly wrong, I could’ve spent the whole day in there with the greatly in depth explanation for each piece of history in there. Was in there for at least 3 hours and merely scraped the surface of information in there and failed to visit all floors. The food court was a tasty experience and the prices were slightly high however that is to be expected in New York. Would recommend to everyone and it’s very possible to spend a whole day exploring in there. God bless America.

First off, just like the MET, You really need to spend 2 full days to really enjoy everything that is in here, especially if you want to fully enjoy this Museum just be sure you allow enough time for it. I strongly recommend checking out the dinosaur exhibits, as well as the exhibits on geology, really professional staff, and it's super fun. Honestly I think I enjoy just about every exhibit, but something about seeing a T-Rex is just awe-inspiring! Also the dinosaur eggs are really cool too! And well all the little gift shops are fun! The staff that works in this Museum are really wonderful people! And of course don't forget to check out the Hayden Planetarium!! Neil deGrasse Tyson is the man!!! This museum is fun for all ages, you can't go wrong. And the Central Park area right next to the museum is great for a relaxing stroll after you leave the museum. Also if you do decide to come to this Museum, make sure you get there very early, preferably 30 minutes or earlier before the museum even opens, otherwise you will be in line forever!! Enjoy! :)

A great museum. There are lots of regular and special exhibitions all year long and it would be interesting for both kids and grownups. It's very clean and they have added a lot of new and interactive exhibits. It's huge, has many shops, labs, planetarium and a very nice kids discovery room (good for ages 1 - about 10). If you're in NYC and never been , it's a must place to visit, since it's that big I would plan what you're going to see in advanced or check with the nice information desks guys over there before you start. The suggested fee is 12$ but it's donation based so you can leave any amount (especially important for larger groups ).

My favourite museum in New York! It’s really good value for money! Make sure you don’t add it to city passes and actually buy the full price ticket on site! It gives access to all the activities the museum has to offer and it’s a great day spent at such a beautiful site! The diagrams are beautiful and if you’re lucky you won’t miss the video where it’s shown how the works are being done to preserve and improve the visitors’ experience! It took me around 4 and a half hours to do all activities and see a great part of the museum. The food at the cafeteria is a bit overpriced and could use some more variety and the space could be friendlier and cosier. Make sure you visit the planetarium as it’s the best planetarium I’ve visited!

This is a must see! Beautifully curated, easy to navigate. It had plenty of things I'd never seen before. Of particular interest to me were the halls of biodiversity, ocean life, and Asian peoples. I would give myself an extra day on the future to do the whole museum. A few things to be aware of, it's a pretty crowded location even on weekdays. There were a few lights out over some displays, also hardly any trash cans! Only one recycling bin.

I have lived in New York for about five years now and I’ve always wanted to come and visit the Museum of Natural History. I finally visited today And it was everything that I had hoped for!!The only thing that I would suggest is if you are the type of person who just likes to look at the pictures and the statues then you could get through the whole Museum in about three hours, but if you are like me who likes to take time and read then I would suggest you go early because it will take you all day if you really would like to get the whole experience. Another tip is the price for general admission is A suggestive amount. You could pay one dollar to enter and you should not worry about getting nasty looks from the employees because they deal with people paying low amounts on a daily basis. I saw at least five people walk in line who gave a dollar so you could give as much as you like. Overall it’s visually outstanding and very informative . I will definitely go back!

The American Museum of Natural History has been one of my favorite NYC museums since I was a kid. There is no shortage of things to do or see here and there is an exhibit that can appeal to practically anyone depending on what they are most interested in learning about. The museum is clean and fairly accessible to all, but there is usually a long line for the elevators, so if you require them plan to arrive a bit closer to the opening time to have ample time to visit each floor (opinion based on weekend visits only).

The American Museum of Natural History is famous around the world especially after the Night in the Museum films but it was a bit of a let-down for us . While some of the exhibits are great it feels very dark and not well organized in order to allow you to enjoy those The best part of the museum for us was the Rose Centre for Earth and Space and the planetarium. The Dark Universe theme was both informative and entertaining at the same time. I believe the museum can improve some of the guides so as to allow visitors to enjoy it more during a day visit. While there are a number of tours recommended in the guides none of them is easy to follow. so a lot more can be done in that area ..

You cannot go wrong with a visit here. Suitable for anyone aged 5 or up. You can spend a whole day there, exploring, shopping, learning & eating. Easily accessible and next to Central Park. We did experience some issues that were quite uncomfortable and a bummer. The 45 minute wait to obtain our tickets was a nightmare. The lines for the elevators ridiculous. I did like the option of paying what you want. I did not pay the suggested price due to the wait time, as we only had a certain amount of time to visit. We literally ran down stairs to avoid lines and see as much as we could. Would return despite the flaws.

One of my favorite places to go and visit on the weekends. There's so much to see and explore. This is definitely a place you would need more than one day to really grasp all it has to offer. The space exhibit is one of my all time favorite spots. Seeing all of the planets modeled against what would be the sun is fascinating. The only downfall is that my favorite planet, Pluto (now considered a dwarf planet) is so hard to find. I know all of the controversy surrounding this museum and Neil D.T ideas of Pluto. I think Pluto needs more recognition at this museum! The dinosaurs are stunning, not something you want to miss out on. The extra shows they offer are amazing and truly worth their price! By far one of the most amazing views at this museum has to be the display of nature. All of the trees, roots and leafs are amazing to look at and learn about. Any traveler coming to New York City, please make sure this museum is on your to do list! I recommend this museum to everyone! there is something for everyone to see and enjoy. No matter you age or interest this museum is so large and diverse there is surely something worthwhile for you.

This is by far the most amazing Natural History Museum I've visited so far. I really consider necessary to visit it multiple times and probably explore 1 or 2 levels once. Otherwise you'll be in a rush to see everything and won't have time to read and learn about the wonderful things displayed. Also recommend visiting the Hayden Planetarium and watching the movie in the huge sphere.

One of the major attractions in NYC if you love natural history of mankind. Though I got the impression that it’s mostly good for kids. They get to see a lot of fossils and dinosaur skeletons. There is a simulation of growth of human population over time which was absolutely amazing. The Human migration section is really interesting. If you are a student ( make sure to show your id), they usually ask for a ‘suggested’ price of entry, which you don’t need to pay, you can even pay just 1$ and go inside !

It was an amazing experience with this museum. I found a lot of awesome things. But the most mind blowing is the remains of dinosaurs and i feel like an animation movie. All those was like a short film whose episodes are the different ages that included millions of years. If you got a chance to visit this place you should never miss this because......you will feel it after you visit this place.........

My daughter loves Night at the museum! Brought her here after watching the movies on family night. She didn't want to leave.Wonderful experience. Exhibits were momentous. Can't wait to get her back so we can see the new ones. Mommy love you so much! Cant wait to see you! See you soon.

One of the iconic places to visit while you are in NYC, and the only (?) museum that can entertain the whole family. Animal scenes set in a look-alive beautiful glass see through niches, statues, fossils and much more. All you can think (and not think) of the animal world and history of world around us. Like the "DumDum" statue from Easter Islands, space exhibitions… you can spend a month here and not get tired. IMPORTANT Recommendation: In cold and very cold winter days if you are wearing thermal boots, come with another pair to replace and wear while you are there – otherwise you will melt. The place is very warmed up.

Another great NYC museum. You can easily spend the whole day here and not see everything. So many exhibits, so many building wings. Definitely a little something for everyone. Make sure you have good footware on, lots of walking, standing and reading. Loved this place, architecture is pretty amazing as well.

There are PLENTY of things to see. There’s so much that it gets overwhelming to try and look at everything. I had to just wander until I found things that interested me. I live the exhibits that were of real things. There was a small ecosystem that was sealed in 1999 and not opened since. It’s very cool to see a self sustaining sphere. I’d highly suggest this place to anyone!!!

Simply: One of the best museums of natural history in the world. Plan at least one day for your visit, to see the whole exhibition. Plan even more time, when you like to see the movies in the theaters and the special exhibitions. Top and amazing is the Dinosaurs Exhibition. It's always very crowded. Take a museum map for orientation. Have a break: There is a food concourse on the lower level and a lunch zone for schools. Or go to "Cafe on 4".

This is the museum that has been in my most-want-to-visit places in NYC for years! It's located near Central Park and has its own subway station (81st street). It's everything that I had imagined before. Dinosaurs everywhere (also in the main hall) and three large exhibition chambers on other floors. I could only be envious of New Yorkers for having this museum in their city, I wish Copenhagen would do the same. They have so many exhibitions on animals (and even people/culture *ahem*) that it would take maybe a week to go through everything. They also have special (extra fee) exhibition that we didn't go because we didn't have so much time. You could truly learn a lot just by spending a day (or two) in this museum. This is a must visit place when you're a bit nerdy like me and happen to visit New York City. There's no other place as great as this!

Never got to see the inside. The sassy security lady did a “go away” hand gesture as soon as she saw my suitcase (I was catching a flight later that night, but really wanted to see the collections while I’m in town). I asked nicely if there’s any other solution, because I won’t get a chance to come back in a while. She answered with “yeah, take it outside” and a finger snap. I understand the policy but all that attitude was not necessary.

For a suggested admission museum (where you basically choose how much you want to pay to get in), you can't really complain. However we found the museum not as interesting as we thought it would be. There does not seem to be a lot of real stuff (a lot of plastic animals, etc...) and the layout is confusing. If you have plenty of time, then it is nice to visit the museum. If you have to make a choice because you are tight for time, for example, then go elsewhere.

You will probably need to book a whole day if you’re planning to visit this museum. It is absolutely huge. Exhibits are displayed in a very old fashion way so be prepared for a lot of reading. There is store on every floor. Restrooms are easy to find and clean. The worst part is huge crowd which you should expect no matter the hour and date.
