Bryant Park is a 9.6-acre (39,000 m2) public park located in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Privately managed, it is located between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) and between 40th and 42nd Streets in Midtown Manhattan. The eastern half of Bryant Park is occupied by the Main Branch of the New York Public Library. The western half, which contains a lawn, shaded walkways, and amenities such as a carousel, is located entirely over an underground structure that houses the library's stacks. The park hosts several events, including a seasonal "Winter Village" with an ice rink and shops during the winter.
The first park at the site was opened in 1847 and was called Reservoir Square due to its proximity to the Croton Distributing Reservoir. Reservoir Square contained the New York Crystal Palace, which hosted the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in 1853 and burned down in 1858. The square was renamed in 1884 for abolitionist and journalist William Cullen Bryant. The reservoir was demolished in 1900 and the New York Public Library's main branch was built on the site, opening in 1911. Bryant Park was rebuilt in 1933–1934 to a plan by Lusby Simpson. After a period of decline, it was restored in 1988–1992 by architecture firms Hanna/Olin Ltd. and Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, during which the park was rebuilt and the library's stacks were built underneath. Further improvements were made in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

I loved sitting here and people watching. It’s a neat green space right in the middle of the madness of Manhattan. Cute little cafe tables line the sides of the park and it’s a great place to have a cup of coffee or quick lunch. Lots of activity around as well as park workers. Really liked the backdrop of all the surrounding buildings against the park. Just an adorable space.

Such a great them park there with a lot of facilities and of course the great public library... a great building and place you should pay it a visit... They have this big ice skating course and you can see people enjoying their time here... also you can find different stuff to do here... from having a coffee or beverage and eating breakfast, lunch or dinner... multiple different small spots to take food from Chinese and Japanese, to Mexican and American... I love to go there especially at the weekends and enjoy the atmosphere... they keep this park clean which is great also...

Beautiful park. Only passed through so I don't have a lot to say about it. Probably the most amazing public restroom I've ever been through. Stepping in from the cold you're greeted with a wave of pleasant warm air and a fresh scent of cleanliness. I felt as if I stepped into the bathroom of an expensive establishment. I almost wanted to sit down and relax for awhile. Wonderful place to stop and relieve yourself.

My favourite place to go to in new york! Just a block away from Times square but you find such smoothness in the park itself. I loved it at the moment I saw it first! Have been there many times and will go there many times

Great park to hang out in. Must-see for visitors to New York. Come to learn how to juggle for free from 12-1 Monday to Saturday or Tuesday evenings year round! Situated right in the middle of busy midtown Manhattan, it is surrounded by tall office buildings on three sides and the famous main branch of the New York Public Library. There are great free-events in the park year-round, including book readings, knitting, juggling, live performances, board games, and ping pong. In the winter they set up a big ice skating rink and lots of little boutique shops / food stands for their annual Winter Village.
