A fantastic art deco building. The foyer is fantastic with plenty of marble. Words can not do this masterpiece justice. If you ever find yourself in New York City, check it out, you won't be disappointed. The only downside to the place is that they don't let tourists up the building.

Originally a project of real estate developer and former New York State Senator William H. Reynolds, the building was constructed by Walter Chrysler, the head of the Chrysler Corporation, and served as the corporation's headquarters from 1930 until the mid-1950s. The Chrysler Building's construction was characterized by a competition with 40 Wall Street and the Empire State Building to become the world's tallest building. Although the Chrysler Building was built and designed specifically for the car manufacturer, the corporation did not pay for its construction and never owned it, as Walter P. Chryslerdecided to pay for it himself, so that his children could inherit it. When the Chrysler Building opened, there were mixed reviews of the building's design, ranging from its being inane and unoriginal to that it was modernist and iconic. Perceptions of the building have slowly evolved into its now being seen as a paragon of the Art Deco architectural style; and in 2007, it was ranked ninth on the List of America's Favorite Architecture by the American Institute of Architects.

Truly the most stunning of art deco buildings to be found anywhere on the planet. Well worth seeing in the flesh and your trip won't be wasted as Grand Central is one block down, the NY Library and Bryant Park another couple of blocks along and then you reach Broadway and Times Sq, assuming you are heading west.

Probably one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the world. The Art Deco style sets it apart and the eagle gargoyles are one of a kind. I hear when the building opened in 1931, the public could go up to the 71st floor as it served as an observation floor. That was stopped in 1945. Now you can only enter the lobby unless you have business on the floors above. We just gazed up at it from below. I think it is most stunning when it is lit up at night.

Cool, historic building with interesting architecture and artwork in the lobby. Note that security is tight and they will let you take regular photographs, but no video or panoramic photos. The iconic skyline shot of the building is probably what you're going for anyway, so do that from a few blocks away before you arrive here.

Slightly overshadowed by the Empire State I think the Chrysler is a more iconic building of the age of skyscrapers and the building looks great from all angles. The steel shines in the sunlight and its amazing to look at when the crown and spire light up at night, Another true image of NYC seen from all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. A true art deco masterpiece.

One of the most emblematic buildings in the United States of America is Chrysler Building. The construction of this beautiful skyscraper began in 1928 and finished in 1930 (2 years later). Today, this monument is one of the tallest buildings in the U.S. and it rises 319 meters. The building is located not far from the shore of the East River in eastern Manhattan. Like the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building also has a pointed roof and that make it easily recognizable on the silhouette of the Big Apple.

Iconic New York City landmark. Absolutely beautiful architecture. It is the definition of what the original skyscraper is. The buildings details are legend. Visitors will find the area friendly and appealing, recommend this as one of the must see towers in Manhattan.

This magnificent structure was the tallest building in the world for the brief period from its completion until the Empire State Building was constructed. The unique architecture of the upper floors of the exterior of the Chrysler building make it a very recognizable and attractive feature in the Manhattan skyline. The lobby of the first floor is beautiful and worth taking a few minutes to see if you are in the area. However, the lobby is the only portion open to the public. No tours are conducted of the building.

As an office building, it is insanely nice both inside and out. The floor(s) I had access to were spectacularly maintained. Also, the access to Grand Central Terminal (directly across the street) is beyond convenient, which allows easy access to the city, airports, Metro North trains, and nearly anything one might need to access via public transit.

The iconic Art Deco skyscraper is a private office building, but the lobby is open to the public. There is a small deli and some shops in the concourse and a subway station. There is no accounting for taste but the Chrysler Building is much nicer looking than the Empire State Building and there is no line or logjam to get inside here. There is no public observation deck, but the iconic eagles and radiator cap statues can be seen from the ground on 42nd Street. The lobby is not very crowded, you will be able to view the mural in peace and quiet. A must visit for tall building lovers if you are in Manhattan on a weekday.

Definitely one of the landmarks in NY city. However, nothing much to see inside the building. It is just a office building. The best way is to go few blocks away and take picture with the full building. The architecture is beautiful~
