Gantry Plaza State Park is a 12-acre (4.9 ha) state park on the East River in the Hunters Point section of Long Island City, in the New York City borough of Queens. The park is located in a former dockyard and manufacturing district, and includes remnants of facilities from the area's past. The most prominent feature of the park is a collection of gantries with car float transfer bridges, which in turn were served by barges that carried freight railcars between Queens and Manhattan.
The southern portion of the park is a former dock facility and includes restored "contained apron" transfer bridges of the James B. French patent. These were built in 1925 to load and unload rail car floats that served industries on Long Island via the Long Island Rail Road's North Shore Freight Branch, which used to run on the south side of 48th Avenue (now part of Hunter's Point Park). The northern portion of Gantry Plaza State Park was part of a former PepsiCo bottling plant that closed in 1999. The freight branch was located below street level, and it was infilled in the early 2000s.

Great date spot or hang out spot on a nice warm night. This place is right by the East River and you get an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline that will take your breath away. The park in the daytime is great too with two areas for big and small dogs. Also, there is a playground for kids that is renovated and new. They do a great job of keeping the park clean. The piers are great for taking pictures and getting closer to the water. Some of the piers allow fishing.

This is it. This is everything I wanted from NY, and it's just a short walk from a subway stop. Amazing views. Cool wooden lounge chairs in addition to regular benches. Quiet. Nearly empty on a sunny Friday afternoon. There was even some chess set up. But seriously, the views. This is the spot for a great panorama of Manhattan without any tourists in the way!

I love taking my kids here in the summer time. They love to run around in the field while I get a chance to relax by the water. It's a really good place for families.

This is a great place to visit, especially in the summer. This is because they have two playgrounds that younger kids will enjoy most. One has a sprinkler area right next to it that only turns on when it’s warm. There are seats you can sit in or lay back in. There is a nice view of the East River, the bridge, and Manhattan.

A really great park. In the summer they have a lot of free concerts. Week nights they have dancing classes. You can also take the ferry from here. There is a sand box next to the bathrooms. There is a bar with a large beer selection. The seating area is facing the water, and has a great view of the city, especially at night. There isn a really trendy crowd here. Great for all ages.

A nice place to relax and enjoy the nature . The building of New York City looks really beautiful at night. I went their with two of my friends, the weather was so charming and relaxing. A nice place to date as well. Seats available to seat and enjoy the beauty.

Always a fun spot to go to. This is a good spot to watch sunsets. Good to play sports or just to tan. If you wanna smoke weed here, you can do that too. No one here cares about it lol.

Great place to watch sunsets. Lots of stuff to do nearby, quite a few restaurants and bars. The Pepsi cola sign is there as well. One of my favorites places in the city to capture the Manhattan skyline.

My favorite park in NYC! I would come here over any other parks. Even though parking is either ridiculously expensive or impossible to find, I still find myself coming back. Great view of the city skyline with enough greens and water to make your day perfect.

Great place for pictures especially for the Manhattan sunset skyline. There is a children's playground that is great for toddlers. Would also recommend here to be a great tanning spot along with being a quiet chill reading area.

Beautiful park at the West side of Queens, in Long Island City. There's many benches and wooden loungers for park-goers to rest and enjoy the sights. The Queensboro Bridge is viewable as well as the famous Pepsi-Cola sign. Historical gantries are there, a nice reminder of the park's industrial past.

Great place to relax and take a break from it all. Peaceful and the scenery is just awesome. It's very good for the kids😊, keeps them busy and active. ☆☆☆☆☆

I love coming here at night when there's less people around. Don't get me wrong, there is still a bunch of couples coming out here late at night to make out on those benches but whatever. I'm glad they improved the overall cleanliness of the park and piers. I just wish the bathrooms were open til late. There's a bunch of food options not that far away, you can go for super affordable (Dunkin Donuts or Subway), affordable (plenty burger joints and others), or expensive. If you plan on coming here for the 4th of July, get here EARLY and claim your spot. Also, sun screen. Please. You need that in 90 degree weather. Trust me. 😐

I love gantry park! The views are spectacular and it's always a beautiful environment to walk up and down the boardwalk. Definitely my go to place for a night out. My only negative is the women's bathroom never has toilet paper.

This park is perfect for families, individuals, and dates. It's also handicap accessible. It has recently just expanded even further down the East River, towards Brooklyn, and the expansion is lovely. There are overhang look out points, playgrounds, a workout area with proper gym equipment, and a really beautiful walk along the river which is soon to open as well. The original half of the park also has a children's park, two actually, a dog park, kayak launches, and two ferry landings, one for the East River Ferry, the other for the Astoria Ferry. There are romantic, shaded garden areas, long docks for walking that stretch out into the river with seats at the end, picture perfect spots, and an astro-turf for those who enjoy sports. There's also a large sandpit that is sometimes used by children, and sometimes set up as a volleyball court. There are two bathrooms, one cafe type restaurant that serves alcohol, and a countless amount of restaurants just outside the park. It's also an ideal location for showing tourists the skyline as it's right in front of the UN, Empire State Building, and all the other midtown landmarks. I highly recommend this park.

I wish I knew this place existed when I was younger. The park gets kind of crowded, that's just a testament to how great this place is. There are benches, fields, hills and lots of shade. There's a dog park, cafe, playground and walkways out towards the water. I love coming here with friends and to take pictures. The whole park is just beautiful and mostly well taken care of. I can't recommend this place enough, just leave it as clean as you found it.

This park is so beautiful and has enough space for all. There are many different things to do. The beach is lovely, they have plenty of play grounds, a hiking trail and grilling spaces. Also trails for bike riders.

Outrageous! What a beautiful park. Couldn't be more ideally located. I was there for the 4th of July, but I can't wait to return on a less popular, and less populated day. I will update if it sucks, but I don't expect it to. If there are no updates from me, this is Heaven.
