So much to see! Spent well over 5 hours, and didn't quite get through everything. Didn't realize how big this ship was until I started exploring the different levels. There are beds everywhere, which made sense for a vessel that could accommodate 3000 crew. The submarine was pretty intimidating, but that's only because I felt cramped. Pretty well kept, considering it's one of the older ones. I also paid for the Concorde tour, which was a tad bis disappointing. Maybe because I'm a Concorde history buff and already knew most of what our guide was saying? The plane itself is very well kept. Didn't realize just how thin the fuselage was until I was sitting in the plane. So lucky to have had the opportunity to visit such a marvel of invention.

I came here yesterday for kid’s week. It was an amazing experience although it rained while we were there. We got to see some really cool planes including a shark plane. The food was good but the pizzas we ordered were somewhat spicy. The plane flying simulator was fun indeed but my brother and I couldn’t figure out how to control the plane and stayed on the ground and upside down for a while. The submarine and seeing the different sleeping and eating quarters was fun. We even met someone who worked there in the ‘80s.

This is the best museum that we have visited in our 10 years of living in NYC. It is kid's week so that was a bunch of fun things for my daughter to do with her friends. Even had lunch in the cafeteria and the flat bread pizza was delicious. The space shuttle was great to see so up close. The hangars were educational and very special for learning about the history of this aircraft carrier and the US Navy. But the large number of fighter crafts on the flight deck was my favorite part of the day along with the beautiful NYC skyline in the back drop.

This place was a total blast. The kids had a lot of fun being on an actual aircraft carrier, seeing all of the cool planes and Exhibits. The space shuttle was especially cool. We waited and rode the elevator that took planes from the hangar deck to the flight deck and that was very interesting, especially when they told us that the elevator ride which took us 5 minutes would take planes less than 20 seconds. We got to see a drone exhibit I learn all about how they're made and what they can be used for. The tough part was the cafeteria. We have to accommodate a food allergy , one that's actually anaphylactic, and it was very difficult to find anything to eat. And that's the setting aside the astronomical cost of food at a museum. Multiply the NYC prices and the museum prices and it's an expensive way to eat out. Unfortunately there's not a lot in the neighborhood to go grab a bite to eat so you're kind of stuck at the Intrepid.

Superb attraction. We'd initially only planned to spend a couple of hours here but there's so much to see that we ended up staying for five hours. You're able to get up close with some incredible planes including the stunning Concorde and Project Oxcart. Tour a submarine and wonder at the Enterprise Orbiter. That's before you've even taken time to explore the Intrepid itself. Great exhibits and a brilliant day out.

I was impressed with the museum's content and price. It entertained two families for nearly four hours in New York City for $30 per adult... less for children. With an aircraft carrier, submarine, space shuttle and history lessons to boot, good luck finding a better afternoon in New York. Also, take the time to visit the Bridge of the ship and the admiral's quarters to understand how differently warfare was exercised not so lo g ago - via paper maps and communication via vocal tubes... great stuff and very reasonable (in New York).

This was our surprise visit for my youngest kid. He was excited to see the space shuttle. So was I! Lots of planes and helicopters on the flight deck. My favorite SR-71 was there too. I was surprised to see there was an elevator here. That made it easy to get between the decks. We decided to have a bit of lunch here. The pizza was pretty decent. Better then I expected. A little pricey, but I expected that. Lots of shuttle history, and it is cool just walking around.

I was looking forward to this. I thought an aircraft carrier turned into a museum would be quite interesting. I guess you need a liking for it. A suggestion would be to only go on a day when the weather is nice, or you will get soaked and get less of a view. If you have trouble walking or going up steep stairs, then you should avoid the flight deck and or other difficult to get to areas. If you are tall like I am, then watch your head while walking through the hold. I enjoyed the historic side of it all.

If your in the area, this is the best experience you'll get for an aircraft carrier. It's not excessively set up for children except for the interactive area, so history nerds shouldn't get bored. If you want a better aircraft carrier, the USS Midway is much larger but of course isn't in NY. It might leave you wanting a bit more historic experience, otherwise it's great for a quick educational trip. There's also the space shuttle Endeavor there but half of the exhibit was closed.

Maybe not correctly a review but more of a heads up to everyone planning to visit. Everywhere you look regarding opening times, you will find that it closes at 5pm. WRONG. To visit the Intrepid museum make sure you arrive before 4pm. Any second later and you will not be allowed to enter or even by tickets. I was 4 minutes after 4pm and ticket sales where closed. An employee kindly informed that entrance is closed one hour before the museum closes. Not really correct information. If entrance is closed at 4pm then museum is closed. You can conclude your visit until 5pm

The Intrepid itself was very interesting, the living quarters for sailors and officers presented as they would have been in the 1940s, which I thought was quite well done. Other areas of interest were the space shuttle and Concorde. The queue for the Growler was too long and barely moved so I abandoned it after 20 minutes. On exit I went to the museum shop. The merchandise was pretty good so I picked up a few items and after being separated from my $75 the cashier wished me....nothing, no thank you, no have a nice day, no comment at all. Personally I hope the young man in question finds his true calling in life, because it is clearly not sales. As for the Intrepid Museum, if they are serious about their mission to educate, might I suggest a refresher in "Common courtesy" for some of their sales staff as a starting point.

Absolutely worth the time and money if you are in NY. Allow 3hrs or so, to allow enough time to see it all. I did the headphone tour for an additional $10. I wouldn't have if I was walking with someone. Bring your wired earphones, it would have been easier. The pictures are $40 for the little set they take off you and put into a little kit. Again if I was with someone i might have bought one. Although $20-25 seems more reasonable. Especially since there is one in the sub and one by the space shuttle. Anyway, go on the sub it's worth the approximate 30 wait. Also, go on the sub first, you'll be too tired from walking if you wait till you are off the Intrepid. Take the extra energy and time to also go up to the very top of the Intrepid. I didn't eat there, but it all sure smelled good, i just had other lunch plans. Plenty of food, water and rest rooms. Great experience overall.

Amazing place to visit. So much history and so much to see. Inside the ship there are many extras you can additionally pay for like a flight simulator. It's worth the high price for how much content the museum has. The additional submarine was an added bonus. I would have given 5 stars if it was a tad more affordable.

This is an iconic part of New York! I would highly recommend coming here if you were in the New York area. The location and proximity to mid town is really phenomenal it would be a very minimal fee to take a taxi there it would be a very short walk if you decided to go by foot. Take the time and visit this historic ship.

I had amazing experience in here! I wish I spent longer time. So many different types of airplanes to explore. I was amazed with the engineering and technology they had decades ago! Each airplane has a story! The ship itself is so big! The information cards and monitors for each airplane was prepared well so they provide plenty of information. You do not just see the airplanes but even with an unguided tour you learn a lot. They have a parking place for groups which is actually first come first served. There was space when I took my group there. The person at the gate was so helpful and kind to arrange a parking space for my passenger van. He said it was free for student groups. I didn’t have any trouble with finding the place and parking the vehicle. It’s definitely worth for the price.

A must-go if you are interested in history, military and technological history in particular. I would highly recommend you to begin your stay at the museum with a 9am guided tour (e.g. the 75 Years of Intrepid Tour, which I found very informative, and which also allowed you to come unusually close to the fighter planes exhibited on the flight deck). As the museum only opens at 10am for the general, non-tour-participating public, it's also very empty and after the tour you have the chance to enjoy some nice minutes in a near-to-empty aircraft carrier with volunteers who are eager to talk with you about the ship and/or their personal navy careers. What's left to say? First, if you are using public transport/the subway: Plan with some extra minutes for getting to and from there. Second, the "Intrepid Marketplace" in the Third Deck gives you opportunity to have a meal where actual ship crew used to dine, meals of decent quality and reasonable pricing (for NYC standards).

Our stop at the intrepid museum was good times. It was cool seeing all the planes (birds) and space shuttle Enterprise aboard this legendary air craft carrier. We had fun in the hands on area. Upgraded to audio handsets for a couple of us which gave us some added stories as we went along- good choice. My only problem was the food area. Not worth time or money spent. My advice- order a hot dog or get something out of cold case. Enjoy

Great place. You can spend a while day and won't see everything. Every curve of the ship awaits you with a surprise. A real Concord plane just sitting there is a must. Shame not open for visits inside on my visit. The submarine visit was great but the queue to get in wasn't. Once inside you face the same line of visitors walking slowly in line till leaving. Maybe choose a less busy time to truly enjoy its history. The NASA space shuttle is an amazing space. Add all other planes that made America great, parked there is awesome. The restaurant at the ship didn't impress me. Too basic & $$$. As was the gift shop. But forget this, you are seeing history live. Enjoy

Visited with my 2 sons (5 and 10) and we had an awesome time! From the submarine to the different aircraft and shuttle, there is a lot to see. Aircraft simulator was a lot of fun. Former officers/staff acting as guide brings the visit to another level, they are all eager to interact with visitors and answer any questions. We were quite surprise when some of them could speak French, it was nice! Would definitely recommend!
