The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza, is located in Manhattan, New York City, at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on the Upper West Side, between the Metropolitan Opera House and the Vivian Beaumont Theater. It houses one of the world's largest collections of materials relating to the performing arts. It is one of the four research centers of the New York Public Library's Research library system, and it is also one of the branch libraries.
Originally the collections that formed The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (LPA) were housed in two buildings. The Research collections on Dance, Music, and Theatre were located at the New York Public Library Main Branch, now named the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, and the circulating music collection was located in the 58th Street Library.

Amazing theater. I was enthralled by the space, the work (saw the play Junk), and the history. Such a beautiful theater and campus filled with opportunities for art, artist and lovers of art. I walked into several other Lincoln Center buildings before finding the theater but even that was incredible. Each space has it's own almost tangible energy and each space was popping with people. Ahhhhhhhh. So refreshing to witness great Art in a unpretentious American landmark. See you soon Lincoln Center.

Lincoln Center is a New York City icon. It is beautifully designed and easily accessible to almost everyone. There are brilliant choices for every devotee of the performing arts: dance, opera, music, theater, and film. In the summer, there are nights where people may dance to swing or salsa music. Lincoln Center also hosts a very large crafts fair during July where artisans from all over the country come to sell and display their creations. There are many lovely dining choices both in the complex as well as in the immediate environment. I feel very strongly that a visit to New York would be incomplete without attending an event or performance at Lincoln Center.

This is the view from Family Circle (seats are only $25 - $30). The sound quality is superb. Many people think you have to get dressed up, but this is not true. You can go in jeans or casual pants and a decent shirt. Sneakers and comfortable shoes are okay. Some people will be very dressed up, and that is great, but it is not required. There is a designated parking lot so you don't have to go outside. Line by line translations are on the back of the seat in front of you, so you turn it on if you need it. It takes longer to sing the line than read the line, so you can read and watch the show easily. Multiple languages are available. Highly recommend you go. It couldn't be easier or more enjoyable. Buying an inexpensive ticket is not a sacrifice! The sound quality is superb.

Outside: Extremely well-maintained outdoor plazas with lots of space for kids to run around and play, seating for some quiet reading, and a wonderful lawn that's open during the summer months. There are several outdoor events held in the summer and fall, such as (free) outdoor Opera screenings, (paid) musical concerts and dance classes. Inside: World class performances by the Met Opera, NY Philharmonic, NYC Ballet.

The seating arrangements in front of the stage are awesome. The bar over charges but this is a high class place people. Even the bathrooms are nice and have everything you need. The performances leave it all on the floor. A good time will be had by all. Plan for transport way ahead of time to get home.

Vivian Beaumont Theater. Beautiful facility. Accoustics were great. Seats and lumbar support excellent. Small theater with excellent views from all seats. Woefully inadequate bathrooms. Intermission didn't provide enough time for all the men lined up like cattle. Degrading experience. I won't go back if I can't use the restroom.

It's the Mecca for music lovers, but individual groups have their own memberships and web sites redirected from the homepage of Lincoln Center. Wish all could be better integrated under the same roof. Many membership programs are not well executed. For example, the membership number for its Great Performers subscription is only listed in a snail mail, not on the membership card itself. Also, cannot opt out the matketing purpose from preventing your personal information to be used or sold by third parties while answering the after-concert survey.

House for some of the finest ballet and opera performances in NYC. Consists of three separate auditoriums. I have been to the Kotch auditorium, which houses the performances of the New York City Ballet. The auditorium has very good acoustics, the stage is very well visible from (almost) all sections of the auditorium. Snacks and drink (alcoholic and otherwise) are available for purchase. Conveniently located, near Times Square.

Midsummer Swing! One of my most favorite events during the summer. Outdoors. Great bands every night! Some pay to go on the dance floor, but just hanging out and swinging on the sidelines is just as good. Google to find out start date and GO!

This was one of this best shows I have ever seen. It was "My Fair Lady". We are still talking about this show. The center was very clean and neat. I love the women bathroom. Inside the theater was excellent view, I did not have a seat in front of the stage but design of the theater made each location great. No poles or signs blocking my view. Also staff very helpful, they will assist you to find your correct seating. Will return again.

The world famous Metropolitan Opera is located here along with famous dance halls. Personally I have only been to Operas and it's an incredible experience. If you are a fan of classical singing the Met Opera has some of the greatest singers in the world! The translation of the singing is actually on the seat in front of you and is "blacked" out to the person sitting next to you (they are unable to see it). Along with great performers are first class sets along with a terrific orchestra. Truly a musicians dream.

Having grown up watching the Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn version on tv, I knew the music and loved the story. The cast, music, set, costumes and overall production was breathtaking. The cast brought each character to life and the singing was superb. The wardrobe and set design were detailed and gorgeous. Treat yourself and family to the magnificent show!

Very nice theater, have seating area for cup of coffee or snack. People really dress nicely to come here for a show. I like it~ Staffs are very friendly. Not a big theater, every seat is a good seat. It is great to spend a evening here and watching a great show!!
