The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World; French: La Liberté éclairant le monde) is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City, in the United States. The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.
The statue is a figure of Libertas, a robed Roman liberty goddess. She holds a torch above her head with her right hand, and in her left hand carries a tabula ansata inscribed JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776 in Roman numerals), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. A broken shackle and chain lie at her feet as she walks forward, commemorating the recent national abolition of slavery. After its dedication, the statue became an icon of freedom and of the United States, seen as a symbol of welcome to immigrants arriving by sea.

The monument is split into 4 sections: - the park - the museum - the pedestal - the statue and the crown We had pedestal tickets which gives us access to the first three of these. It was lots of fun and very informative. Definitely get the audio guide to have a full experience and knowledge of the island and the statue. If you want crown tickets, you have to book months in advance. You still get a fantastic view from the top of the pedestal though. Leave a good 3-4 hours for the whole experience.

It was a really cold morning but the trip was well worth doing, the city pass meant we could go to both islands on the tour; liberty and Ellis, both were very good. Better to get there earlier I think as there is limited space on later boats. We took the boat from Battery Island over to the Statue of Liberty and then to Ellis Island! It’s a nice walk around the statue which took longer than I thought. Definitely a have to do when in NYC!

Lovely historic place!!! Ferry ride was awesome!! We went in early morning hours... Ferry ride was very pleasant in the morning hours... If you are planning to visit, plan early... you cannot roam during noon in summer... you may need sunscreen etc during the day time.. there is big gift shop, even in ferry... Lovely snacks in ferry.. overall we enjoyed the trip.. don’t forget to collect the audio guide!! It was crowded all the time!! Be ready to stand in queue for a minimum 30 minutes, while going to the island and while coming back..

Nothing says New York City and United States of America more than the Statue of Liberty! There are several food and drink options available now for adults couple families and large parties. Burgers, salads, fries, fruits and vegetables will satisfy everyone food cravings. Soda, water, juices, beers and wines help rinse the good food down. There are many great gifts at the shop attached to the food court near the boat docket. The best thing is to get tickets to go to the top of Lady Liberty. There is a wait of a few months but a good idea if planning a visit to New York harbor in the next 6 months or a year!

The Statue of Liberty is definitely something to see!! The view of it is absolutely spectacular. I found the ferry over the harbor was beautiful to. ⛴It makes you think of the immigrants who did the exact same thing, decades before.🛳Their is food on the island, and it’s pretty good too.🍽 I recommend if you want to spend the day there, you should check out Ellis Island. This NYC sight is amazing and great for tourists from all over. 🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽

Definitely a must visit location for all who love and appreciate this country. Buy your tickets online and dish out a few bucks more for special access to the crown. It will give you amazing views and a patriot adrenaline rush. The museum below is fantastic but use the free tour head sets as you will learn a lot. Thank you to the friendly park rangers who heightened the experience with their funny and informative stories.

This is an iconic "must see" in NY. The views are great! The ferry route gives an opportunity for great photos. Reservations are recommended. If you want to go to crown reservations must be made months ahead. The audio tour gives a lot of info. I think the museum needs a little updating. It could use interactive exhibits for children. I don't recommend for children 5 and under.

It is the statue of liberty, it was awesome 😁 I would recommend getting there as early as you can. There is a lot of security to get through. The line for the ferry ride over was extremely long when we arrived back at the park. It wasn't that bad in the morning. We were limited on our time, so we just walked around the island. Didn't stop at Ellis island. There are lots of great photo opportunities there. You can see the city, and of course the statue.

"It's like dream to see it a live". "The beauty of that place is incredible". It is a part of the seven wonder of the world. "It is a example of great engineering". I have no word to describe the beauty of this place. I have not seen it yet from my eye but it my dream to see it before my death. It is made in between the water......what a great job done by the architectures of this statue of liberty.

The Statue of Liberty is definitely something to see!! The view of it is absolutely spectacular.I have visited this place twice and I enjoyed both the times. The view of the new York City from here is amazing. I actually visited this place in summer and the weather was amazing, warm with partly cloudy. I would recommend once in a lifetime visit of this place.

Buy tickets in advance. It saves a lot of time. They have a separate line for advance tickets. It's definitely much quicker. The boat ride was really nice. Very relaxing. The views are amazing. We went to the pedestal and it was 195 steps. Not as bad as I thought. They also offer an elevator instead of taking the stairs. Just a longer wait. All in all a really great experience. The staff was very friendly and they have it so organized.

The experience of actually getting up close to this iconic landmark is hard to explain. You get a sense of awe thinking about how many have seen her from ships -- either coming to America as immigrants or leaving our shores as soldiers. The crown tour books very far in advance but you can often get pedestal tickets easier depending on the time of year. If you can, go for it. We did just the pedestal and there is plenty to see in there about the design and building of the statue, plus it's nice to get higher up for the view of the harbor and to see the statue even closer than from the ground. There's a new museum being built, which means you'll get to see a lot of the history and memorabilia even if you can't snag a pedestal ticket, which is a great idea. Watch for it to open in 2019.

Madhouse experience overall, but the actual interior was rather peaceful. All Americans should visit at some point. Particularly poignant given the polyglot of languages overheard (mostly Russian? Nobody told me everyone in NY are Russian?). Boat ride was relatively easy given we had bought tickets beforehand... You definitely want to do that and get the interior ticket as well. Note: Google Maps does not work well in Manhattan, make sure you have your route worked out if you're not boarding via Battery Park.

A can't miss experience for every American some time in their lives. The security wait is not bad at all. Consider taking the stairs instead of the elevator to the pedestal! It gives you a better look at the inside of the statue. Additionally, consider going to the crown, not just the pedestal. Absolutely worth it! The restaurant is actually quite affordable and doesn't gouge prices.

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most iconic monuments in the United States, if not the world. The statue, known as "Lady Liberty," represents all that is great about the United States. Lady Liberty was one of the first monuments that incoming immigrants to the United States saw in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It represented a sign of hope and relief that their journey to the United States had been successful, and that there was light at the end of the tunnel. While immigration to the United States by ship is not as common today, The Statue of Liberty still represents a sign of coming to America. New immigrants to the United States visit the Statue of Liberty as sort of a sign that they have made it to The United States. I would recommend visiting the Statue of Liberty to anyone who wants to experience one of America's most iconic monuments. If you aspire to climb the Statue of Liberty and see New York's iconic skyline and view, prior reservation is required.

If you visit New York, this is the number one place you have to see. We enjoyed our trip here. The food at cafeteria is reasonable. Nice and clean as well. Informative and professional staff. Lots of stuff to see inside the statue, we even walked the stair inside.Good experience! However for the senior and little children, I don't recommend to take the stair to the upper floor. Elevator is the best option.

Stunning and a must see on a visit to the big apple. They have a self guided tour through this home phone device. You punch the code in when you arrive at an exhibit that you want to hear more about and you listen on the phone. It is available in many languages. I recommend going during golden hour for the best pictures. All the security and staff were professional and polite. Be sure the pack light as they only have small lockers for you to store your belongings.

Amazing. My children were in awe and we were blown away by the work that went into building this. Definitely try to get tickets that include at least the pedestal. In there you will find a museum and a walk through about the history and work that went into the design and building of the Statue of Liberty. Also don't forget to go to the base after for the best pictures you will get with her... it takes some creative angling but its the closest and clearest photos you will get.

The boat ride there was enjoyable and fun, it is yet another should do, if you visit New York. Here are the 3 reasons why. 1. Pop-culture This is a symbol of the "freedom" of America in which the country was built on and is barely holding onto, so it comes up quite frequently in pop culture 2. History A statue of this size, with this popularity, has a historical story and message. 3. View You can go inside and have a great view of the city!

A memorable place to visit. One must plan and book in advance for going into the crown of the statue. The tickets get booked much in advance. Security here is like at any airport & should be kept in mind while deciding to include something in the handbag. A ferry service starting from Battery Park drops the tourists to the Liberty Island. A one more security check is there at the entrance of the monument. The helical stairway leading to the crown is pretty narrow. Further, the climb is also exhausting. Nevertheless, the view from the uppermost level is unique.

Loved visiting Lady Liberty! Standing up in the crown was an amazing experience. The staff here are helpful and give you some really cool pointers for awesome pictures and where to look. The elevator was broken from the downstairs to the pedestal so that put a damper on the day, but I still loved climbing all the stairs. Going from the pedestal (middle part) to the Crown was quite the trek. You have to climb up a pretty steep and narrow spiral staircase. Being a big guy, I barely fit! But there are rest platforms on the way up and it is totally worth it. It gets hot on your way up to the crown and while in the crown, but you definitely shouldn't pass up visiting it. Highly recommend visiting here!

We took the full tour of Lady Liberty, going all the way up to the crown. What a great experience. The park rangers were fantastic, even took a family picture for us up at the top. The security lines into the statue were in the shade so that really helped with the heat. However, the ferry line was outside so bring something to keep you shaded like an umbrella if it's hot and sunny. I'd highly recommend purchasing reserve tickets ahead of time using the website, it shortened our wait for the ferry ride to the island substantially.

Beautiful place.. the statue resonates the greatness in engineering marvel. We took the pedestal tickets and the took the stairs up, which was not that bad of a walk.. my 4 year son did it with ease. The pedestal does not give a great view of the statue but really great view of Manhattan.. the best view of the statue is from the tiny park out front.. you cannot take any water or snacks up to the pedestal, but inside the park it is allowed.

Nice place to visit. We took grounds tour tickets. Highly recommend to order e-tickets online and go directly to security check line. Good view of Manhattan skyline. We were impressed that the food was good at the restaurant ' Crown Cafe'. We ordered spicy chicken sandwich, pizza, onion rings and fries.

Pride if USA, it is huge indeed and the most beautiful view you get is from the ferry. The more you go closer u cant take better pictures. The pedestrial access at level 5P is not worth at all. Also the whole interior of the monument really needs a major renovation. We saw some leakages, rust and dirty walls inside. There were 2 proper security checks similar to airport. They also do not allow any bags only water and medicines are allowed inside. You need to rent a locker by shelling 2 dollars out of your pocket and keep the bags in there for 2 hours. At the ground level it island has nice view of skyline. Overall a good experience and could have been better at this price.
