The best of the best! You can pay-as-you-wish ONLY before March 1, 2018!!! "Pay-as-you-wish policy will continue for New York State residents and students from across the tristate region, while visitors from outside New York will be required to pay mandatory admissions; admission for children under 12 will remain free. The Museum will also now honor full-priced admissions tickets for three consecutive days, giving all visitors more time to experience each of The Met's three locations." (The Met's Updated Admissions Policy).

Such an inheritance from the past, yet hardly managed as well as a shopping mall the size of Destiny or the Mall of America. I bought a membership but I bought the wrong membership. So my guest and I couldn't eat in a dining room with a real menu or waiters. Instead, we huddled at low tables in a makeshift bazaar on a balcony and paid almost fifty dollars for dry sandwiches and a bit of soup. As for the lounge, well let's say it's a throwback to a past when museums were exclusive refuges of the affluent. It's an embarrassment. What other museum shuts out everyone who doesn't live on the wealthy condos of Manhattan? Sorry. This isn't a private club. It's a not for profit dedicated to putting art into the hands of everybody At Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, one can just waltz into the Wolfgang Puck restaurant and enjoy a real dinner without paying admission. Facilities for the comfort of patrons have been overlooked and my contemplation of paintings in the America wing failed because I heard so many people scurrying for a lavatory they could find. Casinos always have plenty to drink and plenty of comfort stations. The MET cannot think of itself as different.

Best museum in NYC. So much to see in one day that the best thing would be to come early and leave at closing. I would recommend visiting the big exhibits first than move to the smaller exhibits. If you drive into the garage, you will be able to purchase a ticket in the basement. The lines usually move faster in the basement. The recommended price is $25 for residents of NY but you can give whatever you want. For everyone else you will have to pay $25. TIP: If you plan on visiting multiple times it might be worth getting a membership.

Absolutely amazing museum in the heart of Manhattan. Almost everything is here... Egyptian, Greek, South Asian, etc. The seasonal and traveling exhibits are a great treat. The fashion gallery is definitely a must see post MET ball. The rooftop offers wonderful views of the midtown skyline, and the bar is pretty reasonable. Definitely visit all floors if your feet allow!

Everything here is so beautiful. The museum is truly captivating. I could spend a whole month there and not be bored. There is so much to view. Every item demands your attention. I spent the whole day there, until they closed. Although I didn't get to view everything, I had a great time. From the sculptures to the paintings, all the items had their own unique appeal. This is my new favorite museum!

Love it. I enjoy the museum set up the whole garden of China, or a whole temple of Egypt, or a whole church setting from Europe. Make you feel the cultural and each art pieces purpose to the set. Not just some arts inside a glass box. Awesome setting and collection. The gift shop is worth to take time to explore. They carry not only typical books and postcards. They carry a lot if recreate art pieces. Scarves, bags, mugs, and all different things that with notable and famous art pieces you can use every day life.

To begin with: staff is really kind. I had a little problem reading one of my tickets and a girl at a desk just printed me a new one. Coat and bag check is easy to find and flows really well. This museum is gigantic! What I did to now exactly where to find the pieces I wanted to see was going previously to their website and searching for each and every one in their database, they'll tell you it the piece is on view and in which gallery to find. Once you're inside, grab a map near any help desk and you'll know exactly where to go. Fridays and Saturdays the museum is open until 21:00, which is very handy. I had an amazing time! With the same ticket I could still go to two more locations, I'll do it if I have the time. You can use your ticket within the first and third day after validating it at one of the three locals.

Everyone should go at least once. But once it's not enough to see all this museum has to offer. From paintings from the Masters to statues from antiquity it has a little of everything from the art world. I know little kids will find it boring but they really should get a little culture. The museum is amazing. The new admission policy to the museum is pay as you wish if you are a NY, NJ, or Conn. Resident. For visitors from outside New York State, there will be a mandatory admission fee: $25 for adults, $17 for seniors, and $12 for students. Admission for all children under 12 and Members and Patrons are free.

A must-see world-class attraction. It might be a worth while trip to New York to only see this museum. Always great ongoing legacy exhibits, and usually a good rotation of new material as well. The Egyptian mummy and Temple are amazing and set up in such a way as to take your breath away. The question you ask over and over again is how it could have been constructed and then moved to NYC. Definitely see the Europeans and American wings of paintings. Famous paintings that you only saw in books will be hanging on the wall to enjoy. 'Washington Crossing The Delaware' is a must see and you will be amazed at how large it is!

I have a lot of fun there. There is a lot of things to see. I think it's important to go with a guided tour or with enough information of what you are going to see otherwise the experience could be boring or you will not enjoy the bunch of history that is enclosed in this wonderful place. I like the cafeteria. Although it's a little expensive to my taste the variety is good and the food is good. The terrace have an excellent View to the Central Park and to the lower Manhattan. You can take lots of pictures there. It's a place to spend the whole day so wear comfortable shoes because you are going to Walt a lot.

This is one of the best art museums in the world, and should be visited at least once. There are famous examples of basically every culture and time period's artistic expression on display. More than enough to see, and it would probably take a day or two to really appreciate the entire exhibited collection. If you are not a local, the admission is a little expensive. You really can't go to an art museum like this anywhere else in the country though, so I would argue it's worth it. If you love art and have a day in New York City, visit the Met!

Amazing collection that deserves the three day ticket. Amazing collection right from the ancient to the modern. Their guided tours are very in-depth and informative. The sections are very well laid out with good guidance and maps. The terrace cafe could do with a little more variety. It has a lovely view of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.

Great museum all around, one of the most complete collections. Offers a superb experience. The visitor does not have to wait in line for a long time. Great location that can combine a visit to the museum with a walk in Central Park. Must visit the Greek and Egyptian section. Interesting collection of the greatest European painters. A must visit if you ever stay in New York.

Loved the Met! We went there for 2 days since the ticket was valid for 3 days. We joined a couple of free walking highlight tours which were very informative and entertaining. We loved the contemporary and modern art section, with lots of works from the Impressionists. It's quite a massive place, so having multiple-day tickets were perfect.

Viewed a new American art exhibition of a Hudson River artist and then wandered throughout this institution of worldwide art history and appreciation for hours. Include the Costume Institute on your visit, too. This is more than eye candy for an art junkie fix! Loved it but not enough hours; maybe a sleep over is in their future and mine? Note: there is a fixed admission cost vs a contribute what you want policy for visitors who are not NY residents. Pay for parking garage available on site. Wheelchair Accessibility, too.

An amazing place. I thought I’d like it but it surprised me just how much. I started with the ancient muddle east and then the people of the islands near a Australia and the Polynesians. Honestly I liked their cultural artwork more than anything else. I didn’t expect that going in. From their masks to their boats and paddles. I just thought it was incredible. Their were two teens near me making fun of it. I guess different people have different tastes? But the works from different African cultures were great. The Persian exhibit was way bigger than I would’ve thought. There was a special thanks to the Iranian American community. Clearly they put a lot into it some of the American and European painting depicting the working class grabbed me too. As did the Black American art and quilts from the Jim Crow days. The Chinese and Indian art was standout too. I’m leaving so much out. It was great. Five times I thought I saw it all and then realized I missed something big. The place turned out to have at four times the amount of art as I would’ve thought. It was just too much. Too much of a good thing. If I didn’t live over a thousand miles away I would’ve gone back the very next day. I had a huge backpack because it was my last day in town and I had just discharged from my hotel. That kinda whooped me and I’m still sore. I should’ve gone a day or two earlier. Don’t go with a heavy backpack. I will say that the fashion show thing isn’t my cup of tea, but it was for a lot of people. They were going wild for it. Fashion inspired by Catholicism. I did like some of it though. I can’t recommend the Metropolitan Museum any higher. An amazing place. I will be back.

Best place on Earth. I spent few hours here on a busy evening but it was the best time of my life. The paintings, the sculptures, the Egypt collection, etc were mind-blowing. There was a sketching session coordinated by some art students. It was very intriguing and fun. You would need more than a day or two to appreciate all the art and artifacts in this museum. Some paintings are so mesmerizing that you'd want to spend quite some time looking at it. Enjoyed every minute that I spent in the met museum.

Such a great place to go. I am a NY state resident so it technically could have been free entry! I went in expecting to pay full price so this was a wonderful surprise. Such amazing art here. I would set aside at least 4 hours so that you can see mostly everything. I was unfortunately was only able to stay a little while but would love to return and spend the day there looking at the works!

It was cool exhibition of catholic style of art in a fashion world. It was interesting! With theme music and stuff. We enjoyed that day in museum. You still have time to visit till September 2018. I felt like I moved to a past with this music. Kind of scary sometimes but you feel the soul and darkness. Interesting experience and you can pay any price at the entrance if you would say you donate (you welcome 😂) so I would like to go on some other exhibitions at this place. And even without they still have many interesting thing to look at.

Incredible exhibits and art galleries. Many ancient artifacts from countless different cultures and time periods. It is easy to become immersed in the rich history this museum exhibits. The prices for non-native New Yorkers are very reasonable, and the tickets last three days, which is a major plus, given that you will need at least that to fully appreciate all the art and history on display here. Just a suggestion though, if you are a non-native New Yorker, skip the lines at the main desk and head straight for the kiosks. When I was there, I was able to use the kiosk to buy a ticket without standing in line. You do not need to show your student ID if you are a student also. All in all, this is a must see for anyone visiting New York. One of the greatest museums I have ever visited. Highly recommended!

The Met must be among the finest museums in the United States. In addition to their impeccable service, organization, and cleanliness, the staff make the entire trip worthwhile, offering unique perspectives on artwork and giving wonderful tours. The collections the Met possesses are nothing less than diverse: from Ottoman carpets to Pollack's paintings, the museum has at least one thing to intrigue the visitor. If you desire to visit a museum that spans the historical timeline of art, look no further! From my time there, I truly enjoyed the Heavenly Bodies exhibit, which the Met did a remarkable job at hosting.

This museum has an extensive collection. The special exhibits are consistently different and interesting. The staple ones are great to see as well. Even though you start to remember where certain artifacts are, it never gets old. I've brought friends, family and students to the Egyptian section numerous times and always enjoy it! My brain can only take a few sections during one visit, so when I was living in NYC I took a morning (a couple of hours) to focus on a few sections and then left. That was only because I had the luxury of living in NYC for years. If you are going for a full-day, utilize the benches and spaces in different areas so you can immerse yourself in art throughout the day. The Met recently changed policies around their admission fees (as of March 2018). New York State residents and students in NY, NJ, CT have no fixed admission fee (donation based). For non-New Yorkers, the admission fee is $25 for adults, $17 for seniors and $12 for students. I think this is fair. The Met has so much to offer that the $25 is well worth it!

This museum is incredible. The architecture alone is outrageous and obviously the history inside of it is well organized and wonderful to experience. I would recommend everyone come here and spend hours looking around. I would recommend getting the device that you can listen two history in your ear as you're walking around. It is so cool to be able to learn things while you're moving around. It's like having a tour guide with you all the time.
