St Nicolas Church is the Church of England parish church of Newbury, Berkshire, and stands just south of the main bridge over the River Kennet, in the centre of the town. It is chiefly remarkable for the consistency of its Perpendicular Gothic architectural style and its unusually large size for a parish church.
St. Nicolas Church is dedicated to the eponymous Bishop of Myra in the fourth century. A church was first built in this spot during Norman times, and it is mentioned in a document of 1086 in which Ernulf of Hesding gives the church of the Abbey of Préaux.

The Church has become like a secret place for me as those who know me don't know I retreat there to pray in private during the week.. This place holds keys to my times of answered prayer and meditation upon the word..

This church is almost always locked, even at 1pm on a Sunday. It is only ever open for services & messy church, when the atmosphere is not very nice. It's very noisy. It doesn't offer an enjoyable experience to those who want to pray or appreciate the architecture.

It is well known for stunning Gothic architecture, beautiful glass windows and unusually large size for a parish church. Really welcoming, friendly volunteers we had a lovely day. Central in town centre it hosts Newbury 's Spring Festival Concerts, Newbury Syphony Orchestra and various choirs. Worth visiting. 10/10
