Newton Aycliffe, United Kingdom

Newton Aycliffe is a town between the rivers Tees and Wear in County Durham, northern England. It is about 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Darlington and 10 miles (16 km) south of Durham.

Founded in 1947, under the New Towns Act of 1946, it is the oldest new town in the north of England. The town is in the Great Aycliffe civil parish, with Aycliffe Village (to the south) and the north part of School Aycliffe (to the west). The parish had a population at the time of the 2011 census was 26,633.
