The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, also called Villa Île-de-France, is a French seaside villa located at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera. Designed by the French architect Aaron Messiah, it was built between 1907 and 1912 by Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild (1864–1934).
A member of the Rothschild banking family and the wife of the banker Baron Maurice de Ephrussi, Béatrice de Rothschild built her rose-colored villa on a promontory on the isthmus of Cap Ferrat overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The Baroness filled the mansion with antique furniture, Old Master paintings, sculptures, objets d'art and assembled an extensive collection of rare porcelain. The gardens are classified by the Ministry of Culture as one of the Remarkable Gardens of France, whilst the villa itself has been classified as a monument historique since 1996.

A must do! We spent four hours here having lunch on the terrace, exploring the villa and gardens and taking in the sheer beauty of the setting. Located high up on the Cap, you have incredible views in every direction. The nine gardens are each unique, but the best is the rose garden. Then there is the water show!!! We visited in mid-May. The roses were spectacular. Try to have lunch on the terrace, weather permitting. A nice menu. The Niçoise salad was wonderful. They have daily specials. The staff is very nice. Plan on at least an hour and a half for lunch. Reservations are MANDATORY.

Well worth a day spent here. Villa has interesting collection with a free audio guide and access to all the rooms. Garden is enormous with several different areas and beautifully maintained. There are lots of places with benches to sit and relax and picnic or just enjoy a rest.

Must visit on your visit to the French Riviera. Drop by for a leisurely afternoon stroll through the millennial pink - themed house and lovely gardens. Take bus 81 from Nice straight to the Villa - takes 20 odd minutes. You can even grab a bite at their beautiful cafe - can’t vouch for the food tho.

A bit difficult to find the way how to reach there. Gardens are very beautiful, Villa inside is also impressive. You can reach by bus directly from Nice for 1.50 euro. I do not recommend the train for this trip.

A must go. I'm from Taiwan and I'm happy I visited it. All the factors i love - flowers I garden I terraces I classical music I dessert I sea I tranquility I breeze I antiques. Roses and the terraces overlooking the ocean with boats make everything so romantic. I enjoyed the classical music played with the fountain.

Beautiful site and gardens. As soon as you enter through the museum shop at the entrance of the Villa audio guides are provided. The tour through the villa is well explained and you get lots of interesting information about the Rothschild (Ephrussi) family, exhibits and arts in general. There was a small cafe inside which I can’t rate but it did not seem too frequented. Parking is provided once you come from the main road but places are limited.

Beautiful place to visit if you are at holiday nice , Monaco or Cannes. Such wonderful nine different gardens part of villa. Classic architecture and well collected art pieces everywhere. There is very nice code and restaurant is part of villa. You can travel there strait with bus number c81 from nice. Also you can walk from local trein station. After you had good time there don't forget to go nearest beach 7 minutes walk. Full day enjoyment.

At the price of €14 I would say this place is a bit expensive but I understand there is a large cost of upkeep for such a large property. There are several different themes gardens that trail around the property and lead to the grand french garden featuring a water fountain show every 20 minutes. Inside you can tour the rooms and have the option of an audio guide. There is also a restaurant on site that I did not visit. It is worth the stop if you are traveling to Paloma beach or staying in the fancy Cap Ferrat neighborhood

This is absolutely gorgeous to visit 👍 Fascinating history! Beautiful villa and amazing gardens surrounding it. Just a short trip from Nice. I recommend at least two hours ++ for this visit. There is a small cafe and a gift shop as well 😃

Beautiful scenery and art. Definitely leave extra time if going by bus. The schedules are more guidelines than exact. Cafe is pricey and selection is limited
