Kedleston Hall is a neo-classical manor house, and seat of the Curzon family, located in Kedleston, Derbyshire, approximately 4 miles (6Â km) north-west of Derby. The medieval village of Kedleston was moved in 1759 by Nathaniel Curzon to make way for the manor. All that remains of the original village is the 12th century All Saints Church, Kedleston. Members of the family have held 14 hereditary titles such as: Marquess Curzon of Kedleston, Earl Howe, Earl Curzon of Kedleston, Viscount Curzon, Viscount Scarsdale, Viscounts Howe, Curzon of Kedleston, Baron Scarsdale, Baron Ravensdale, Lord of the Manor of Curzon, Baron Howe, Baron Curzon, Baronet Mosley, and Baronet of Kedleston Hall.
The current house was commissioned in 1759 by Nathaniel Curzon and designed by Robert Adam. George Nathaniel Curzon is Kedleston's first Marquess Curzon, the first son of the fourth Baron Scarsdale. The second Baroness Ravensdale was Irene Mary Curzon (1896–1966). The third Baron Ravensdale (b. 1923), was Sir Nicholas Mosley, born to George Curzon's daughter, Cynthia Blanche Mosley (1898–1933). The first Earl Howe included Curzon-Howe Richard William (1796–1870); Curzon-Howe George Frederick (1821–1876). The third Earl Howe going forward included the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh Earl Howe as Curzon-Howe Richard William (1822–1900), Curzon Richard George (1861–1929), Curzon Francis Penn (1884–1964), Curzon Richard Assheton (1908–1984), and Curzon Frederick Richard (b. 1951), in that order.
Beautiful house and gardens. Ample parking and disabled facilities. The staff are very happy, friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent picnic facilities in stunning surroundings. We had a wonderful day out as a family and thoroughly recommend Kedleston Hall to everybody.

Superb national trust property set in beautiful spacious landscape. Spectacular rooms. Indian memorabilia wonderful. Check out the Peacock Dress, even with fake gems, truly stupendous.

Very nice place. Lots to see inside the museum section. Amazing Asian treasure's. The grand entrance is one of the finest i've seen so far. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely day out. The walk through the woods was wonderful, full of bluebells. The pleasure grounds and church are delightful. The house itself was surprising with it's marble columns and domed ceiling. I thoroughly recommend for a nice afternoon.

Lovely gardens will a decent range of flowers.. We could picnic outside, found plenty of shaded areas, but also lots of sunny places. The walk around the park is good too. Sheep were roaming freely and it's safe even with little ones. The house is good too, perhaps on the small side but worth the tour. Haven't tried the food there, apart from the ice creams :)

Beautiful spot just outside Derby. Large open grounds to walk around with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Really interesting but simple church on the site with hidden treasures throughout. The cafe is up to national trust standard with plenty of seating inside and outside. The house itself is like nowhere I've been before, stunning interiors reminiscent of a Roman villa/temple. There are knowledgeable guides in every room and information cards to highlight the significant features. The ground floor has its own museum with a previous lords collection from his time as viceroy of India which in itself was worth a good look. All in all a great visit, worth being a national trust member to avoid the £15 entrance fee.

My partner and I are members of the National Trust and we have been to a fair few of the stately homes throughout the Midlands over the past 2 or 3 years. I have to say Kedleston Hall stood out as the best one we have been to yet. The Roman-inspired architecture is fantastic and thanks to what must be some brilliant conservation work the interior of the building is in extremely good condition. A very impressive art collection and grand interior designs make it feel almost like a palace or a major art gallery, but without the huge crowds of people. The grounds are large and open with free roaming sheep on the outskirts and an impressive bridge which you drive over on your way between the entrance and the car park. The outdoor space is very good for picnics, especially in the sun which was out in all its glory on the day we visited. I cannot recommend this place enough, 10/10.

Impressive grand house in the most wonderful and relaxing grounds. National Trust facilities as good as you would expect. I particularly like the sloping lawns to the rear of the house, where families can enjoy picnicking in the sunshine while relaxing on the thoughtfully provided deckchairs. The grounds are massive, with many ready walks available through fields and avenues of trees. A real treat!

WOW....... Wanted to see the rooms where the film The Duchess was filmed. I loved the Hall. The hall was amazing with its luxurious decor and beautiful garden. So much history and plenty of staff volunteers who are well versed on the history of the place. Stunning portraits in some room some very rich in texture and colour. Cafe area and choice of meals snacks cakes to suit all tastes. Plants for sale in the courtyard.

Truly beautiful place. I am so lucky that I only live 10 min away. I try to get at least 3/4 times a week during the summer. I only wished I discovered it years ago when my children were little as they would of loved it too! A slice of heaven on Earth!

What a fabulous place to visit! The grounds are lovely and vast. There is an area for picnics and some of the tables are in the shade, which is good when you go on a roasting day like we did!! You can go around the house without a guide, there are information leaflets about every room and also volunteers to answer any questions you might have.

It stands out here that Kedleston Hall has amazing polite and friendly staff. The restaurant food is also good value for money and not expensive. What a beautiful place to visit- so clean and the amazing grounds a joy to see.

Very impressive country house with large grounds. Good selection of rooms open but like most houses of this type the inner working are not on show. I love to know how the other half lived and shared the same space while being invisible.

Beautiful National Trust property tucked away down a small country lane. A large sprawling landscaped estate with great dog walks and picnic spots. Shaded walled garden walks for this scorching summer we're having and a good choice of cold drinks and sandwiches at the cafe. This has tables outside that face the estate and a great photo opportunity. Did not enter the hall due to time restrictions so that review have to wait until next time.

Lovely place but lack of litter bins in picnic area by car park. Assistant said it was due to sheep getting in and eating rubbish. I am sure sheep prof bins could be installed. House is beautiful well worth a visit.
