Dōtonbori or Dōtombori (道頓堀, pronounced [doːtomboɾi]) is one of the principal tourist destinations in Osaka, Japan, running along the Dōtonbori canal from Dōtonboribashi Bridge to Nipponbashi Bridge in the Namba district of the city's Chuo ward. Historically a theater district, it is now a popular nightlife and entertainment area characterized by its eccentric atmosphere and large illuminated signboards.
One of the area's most prominent features, a billboard for confectionery company Glico displaying the image of a runner crossing a finishing line, is seen as an icon of Osaka within Japan.

Pretty cool area. Takes a while to get your head around how crowded and busy the whole thing is. Plenty of food options. Most places have seating upstairs with a bar. Lots of street food options and plenty going on well into the night.

Lovely bridge. Super crowded. I didn’t notice too much vehicle traffic. Great phot opportunity but the best time to go is probably early morning if you don’t like crowds in your pictures like me.

Popular spot for taking selfie with the famous 33m Glico Running Man neon sign at the Ebusu-bashi bridge.

I went to here in Dec.2017. When it comes to Osaka, this palace look like essential especially at night. Many many people, whose majority seems to be Chinese not Japanese, were crowded here. It seems to be no doubt that the place is some of the most biggest midtown all over the world.

You have to visit the landmark Dotonbori, once you arrive Osaka, though it's hard find the best thing here, you can feel and enjoy the local atmosphere here, nice food and shopping are everywhere. Or if you could speak japanese, you may visit the local bar and club nearby, even onesan bar serves here. Finally if you are leaving early in the next day, you can find 24 hours bookstore Tsutaya and many drugstores as you need. Enjoy the trip~

Such a beautiful experience!! Pretty lights and we also were lucky enough too see a perform and chant on a small rowing boat. Many places to eat around here, but it does get really busy in the evening!

Bridge crossing in Dotonbori area. Under this bridge there is a river, and this location is where Tombori River Cruise for tourists who visit Japan.

This is a must visit bridge to be seen at night when in Osaka. It's quite crowded but it provides a nice view of the river and the lights. Great for people watching.

Crowded bridge with many hookers straw around asking for service, beware of the cute young lady who approach you for drinks, that might get you end up in a club with much expenses.
