The grounds around Osaka Castle are very beautiful and I would highly recommend spending the time to see them. The castle it self is also a sight to see, although do not expect the inside to match the historic style of the outside. The inside must have been renovated as it is modern looking. The castle consists of 8 floors with a viewing platform on the top floor. This platform circles the entire castle and has amazing views of the Osaka city.

One of the best castles I've seen in Tokyo! Although it's completely renovated inside. We took the train to get to the entrance bridge and walked up. Inside is now a museum which takes you through the history of the castle. If you like history, you can easily spend 3 hours here. Note that you have to walk about 6 stories through the castle museum but it's bearable as you spend resting time on each floor. The top of the castle provides an awesome view of the city. It can get very windy up there though.

A good place to spend half a day trying to imagine what life looked like once upon a time... It is a great place to visit with children. There are plenty of things to explore, places to rest and have food, small souvenir shops, as well as numerous green spaces to have a picnic

The castle looks awesome from the outside. Lots of nice parks to walk around. The line to get in wasn't to bad. Was a bit of a queue for the lift tho. It was really modern on the inside witch i wasn't expecting. Would have liked to have seen what it looked like back in the day. The top viewing platform was so busy i couldn't even move. Still worth it though.

Osaka castle like many others in Japan had been rebuilt over the years due to fires and the effects of war. While beautiful, it does look modern , a reflection of it's rebuild in 1996. There is a viewing platform on level 8. I suggest heading up all the way, get a good view and then head down. The story about the person who built the castle is interesting but staying to read about it is only worthwhile if you care about Japanese medieval history. Be prepared for the largest tourist groups that visit this place. The floors are narrow and can get crowded. The moat around the castle is stunning especially the depth and the large granite stones that are used to form it. Good photo opportunities from the castle wall to photograph the castle at the entrance.

A great place to visit the historical place in Osaka. Lots of people but great view of the castle and quite interesting to go inside the castle and look at their history and built models inside. You can even go to the roof upstairs for a nice view. But be prepared to pay some fee and also walking down the stairs back to the ground floor. They have elevators to go up but have to use the stairs to go down to ensure the flow of people coming in won’t get disrupted. Definitely worth visit and take some pictures and enjoy your day. ;)

Definitely worth the visit. ¥600 or free with the Amazing Pass to enter the museum inside. Only wish they had one room recreated as to how it would of originally looked... still beautiful outside and a few food stalls (pink champagne in the spring!)

It was a good trek to the castle. The outside had food vendors, cherry blossom trees and a great view with the river. I went during a busy hour and it was CROWDED. I didn't want to wait in an extremely long line to go in, but I feel like the castle had been renovated quite a bit. Overall, a good experience, but I don't think I'll need/will go back.

Osaka castle is beautiful to visit. I bought the Osaka amazing pass and this attraction was included in the fee. I walked around the castle, and then to the top. The view is nice from the castle on a nice sunny day. The other floors are a museum to tell the history of the castle and the way it was presented was very interesting. I would suggest getting to the castle when it opens so that it is not as crowded. There is a little garden/ pond near the castle too. Overall I enjoyed visiting the Osaka castle.

Beautiful place to visit. It requires a bit of walking. As the park is quite big and the castle is on top of the hill. It is really nice and one of the greatest thing was to make a picture with a samurai. You would make a picture for free with he person and also wear a helmet like a samurai. The person is probably private and not part of the office staff of the park but it was great for picture taking. The area is also really nice. Scenery is like you go back in time. Very impressive.

It's a castle so of course it's super cool to visit and get photos of! The museum inside is okay. Lots of neat displays. I had really hoped to see old architecture on the inside but it's quite modern. Only the outside looks like the original castle. The mascot outside is kinda weird and I definitely preferred the person dressed like a samurai that they used to have. It's a very popular tourist spot so expect crowds and a line to get tickets.

Such an awesome place, gardens were nice to walk around in, didn't go inside but it's been burnt down and rebuilt a few times (Spoiler Alert). Great to take photos and to make memories, really understanding what it might have looked like during it's time and the life it must've held. There's a balcony on the top you can view the city from there. It's a free tourist trap, I guess. But still a beautiful castle!

Really beautiful.. must go if u really enjoy history this is your must go place.. Castle has informative knowledge through video and 3d graphics.. which is very helpful.. If u go on time u can get audio translater which is really good as most of things are written in Japanese... Castle closes at 5 , so last entry is 4:30.. There is really huge garden before castle... Plan 1/2 enjoyable walk before reaching castle... I bought 2 days Osaka pass in which castle and many places entry were free..

Free to walk through the park and look at the fortifications. You can easily spend a couple of hours here. History volunteers are available in some locations to provide information about the castle for free. You can go right up to the castle and get some great photos. If you want to go in then you need to pay a small fee. Also consider visiting in the evening for a quieter experience.

One of the oldest castle in Japan and still have a good shape. It easy to access but you still need to walk around 10-15 minutes from station. The castle itself has been renovated because of fire that happen years many ago. You can enter the castle by paying 900 yen ( I forgot how much it was). Inside you can see a museum and observatory deck. For me, I really hope that I can see the origin inside of the castle, like the floor, the rooms etc.

Favorite tourist attraction in Osaka. The garden is so beautiful, especially on spring and autumn.. Inside the castle you can learn a lot of history about the castle and the Japanese war during shogunate period. Don't worry, most of the literature have English translation. If you love Japanese history be sure to visit this castle.

A lot more touristy then we thought it would be. A lot of shop and stalls. There is even a large restaurant inside the castle grounds. Has lost some of the feel that othe castles like Hiroshima have. Ground were also not as well kept as most of the other gardens and castles we have been to. On the positive there are large parts of the grounds that do not have many tourist things going on. The castle looks amazing for every angle. Great for taking a stroll on a nice day and enjoying the castle from every angle. Worth the trip out there but definitely can do it in an hour.

Very enjoyable experience, it was interesting but the food around was quite expensive. If you want to get inside the castle, it is good to come early, when they are announcing it's open. Otherwise, you might stand a long line. The actual museum inside was nice, included small holograms and translated text, and another thing that you could enjoy, is that you could dress up for 500 yen ( per person ) and take a photo in kimonos & war clothes. The actual photo was 1200 yen. Overall, you should definitely take this into consideration while in Osaka.

Easy access by metro. 6 dollars entrance allows you to see the Castle top to bottom. Beautiful historical place full of stories videos and fantastic views of Osaka. Restaurants and bars in smaller castle next to the big castle. Handicap access to some areas. Only problem the stories written in the exhibit are only in Japanese. I had a great time. Cool place to visit.

Seeing it from the edge of the park made it all the more exciting for us to reach the castle. However, after paying the 600 yen admission fee and getting inside, I was a little surprised by the how little of the old castle was preserved. Regardless, it was a beautifully assembled history museum with a variety of national relics relevant to the castle. The top floor had an amazing view over the entire city. Having arrived a bit later in the day, 4pm, there were relatively few people and by the time of closing very few people were there.

Absolutely an amazing place to view from any distance. It's quite a walk, about 20 minutes to the admissions, which costs about 600 yen per adult. Closes a tad early at around 16:30, but later during the summer. The view of the outside alone is worth the trip if you can't get in. Once inside, it's actually a museum. It's crowded inside and you walk around the center staircase reading about the history of the castle. It's interesting to say nonetheless, but I thought the interior would more traditional. It was still very nice to see. The top floor has a balcony to view Osaka from the castle.

Definitely worth visiting, plenty of Japanese history on display and a lot of intriguing stories to be watched or read. It does have a massive queue to use the elevator to get to the top, as it is recommended you start at the top and make your way down. But as an alternative, if you're fit to climb about 8 floors, take the stairs as it gets you to the top while people wait for the lift. The view from the top is also breathtaking as you can see most of Osaka city and the lush greenery it has to offer.

The park around the castle is huge, gorgeous, very well-kept and quite active, parts of it is gorgeous and good for photo ops, while there seems to be some activity happening in various parts every corner that we turn. Possibly worth a visit for the park alone, if you like parks. The castle itself isn't that big, but has some nice antiques, bits of history on display. There's a multimedia story-telling sort of gimmick for the kids. Top floor has a lovely view of the surrounding city

One of the most beautiful sights in Osaka! The views just walking towards the castle are amazing. We went on a hot day (35 degrees) and it was quite intense I suggest bringing water and a portable fan if you have one. There is a shrine on the castle grounds which is lovely too. There are a number of shops as well on the castle grounds selling ice cream, drinks and snacks. If you wish to enter the castle itself there is a cost of 600 yen per person, we chose to just walk up to where the castle is but not actually go inside as it’s just a museum inside.

Beautiful castle set in a very picturesque park with a moat surrounding. It's a small climb to the actual castle but it's free to get in. There are 8 floors with the viewing floor at the top for views of Osaka. The other floors are museum displays with traditional battle dress, masks & artifacts etc. Floor 3 was closed when we went for updating. You can dress up & have your photo taken in traditional Japanese clothing or samurai. Once you get to the castle you probably only need about 1-2 hours there. There is also a gift shop.

This castle and the surrounding area is beautiful. The walk through the park to get to the castle is lovely, and being able to see it from a distance was really nice. Up close, the castle does not disappoint. It is strikingly beautiful and the teal and gold accents make it shine wonderfully on a sunny day. I had been told it's not worth it to go inside, so I can't speak to how nice it is. The line for going inside was quite long, however, so be prepared for that
