Nice place, not many people which is also good. Each room has some information on the pieces of art within the room. Of course, “The Scream” is one of the major attractions, being behind a sheet of glass or plastic (I don’t really know), but the other pieces of art are also very interesting! You’re able to leave your bags in lockers for free.

Excellent collection, very interesting. Not too crowded, even around The Scream.. Not free on Thursdays though as many books and websites will tell you. Not too big either. Toilets and lockers there as well as a well stocked gift shop and Cafe. Option for audio tour

Go for the Munch paintings. Discover a few more on the route to the Munch room. Very good collection of fairy tale paintings on the ground floor. Thursday's are not free. Takes good two hours even if you want a quick visit . There are small lockers for your jackets and bags free of cost.

Nicely curated and compact museum. Most people can finish it in a hour, and for those like me who have a compulsion to go through each artwork, caption of each room, two hours are enough. You can have a glimpse of how Norwegian artists gradually developed and changed their ways to interpret arts and styles and focuses. Although the museum is not big, there are quite a few works of famed artists like Picasso, Monet, Munch... just to name a few. Worth visiting if you are in Oslo!

Loved it. Stumbled in there on my way somewhere and I wish I could've stayed longer! Great not-so-popular but nonetheless great paintings and sculptures by some of the greatest artists. From the top of my head I could name Monet, Mondrian, Rodin, Munch, Picasso.l, Gougin, etc. Some great Norwegian painters. Also, the staff was really friendly and helpful! I stayed there for two hours and I am thinking of going back.
