The Nobel Peace Center (Norwegian: Nobels Fredssenter) in Oslo, Norway is a showcase for the Nobel Peace Prize and the ideals it represents. The center is also an arena where culture and politics merge to promote involvement, debate and reflection around topics such as war, peace and conflict resolution. The center is located in Oslo, Norway at the City Hall Square (Rådhusplassen).
The Nobel Peace Center was opened in 2005 by His Majesty King Harald V of Norway in a ceremony attended by the royal families of Norway and Canada. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai was also present. The Center welcomes app 250.000 visitors per year and is one of Norway's most visited museums. The Nobel Peace Center is located in the former Oslo Vestbanestasjon (Oslo West railway station) building. Dating from 1872, the former station building was drawn by architect Georg Andreas Bull (1829–1917). It ceased to be used as a railway station in 1989. It is overlooking the harbor and located close to the Oslo City Hall where the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony takes place every 10 December, to commemorate Alfred Nobel's death.

Super interesting museum. When I visited it there were basically 2 exhibitions and a small permanent spot. I enjoyed all of them a lot. It is all graphic and easy to follow. If you like to read and get details, be ready to spend 3 or 4 hours if you the time.

The ground floor exhibitions change but always are tight provoking. The permanent exhibits are sobering, chilling and uplifting all at the same time. It is wondrous too see the diversity of people who have been awarded peace prizes. Some I don't agree with but many I found so deserving.

Very modern and interactive. A place to bring young and old alike. There are images that will shock, amaze, and inspire thought. There are so many pieces that make this museum such a unique experience. Do not be quick to dismiss it! Free with the Oslo Pass.

Great cafe. They also had some amazing educational games in their gift shop. That was cool. The museum itself is a little tiring and mostly what you could read on wikipedia about the people but it's still cool.

Went in for a browse, they lent us a wheelchair for my sister and we accidentally spent 3 hours in there. Amazing exhibit, very interesting. Would recommend.

The Nobel Peace Center is a place worth visiting if you happen to find yourself in Oslo Norway. It is a place to visit to see how many people in this world has put in all they could to make a difference to this world we are living in. Men and women from different discipline, backgrounds and countries around the world. I hope everyone could visit the Nobel Peace Center to appreciate what other great human being like them are doing to make sure that peace reign in the world.

Most people are not aware that the Nobel Peace Prize is chosen and awarded by Norway, not Sweden. This museum explains the history of the peace prize and some of the winners. Unfortunately, the museum has large signs outside welcoming the public to the museum. The entrance fee is not mentioned at all until you get well into the building.
