One of Oxfords gems, a truly fantastic museum. It is free, but you will wonder why. It manages to stick to the 'image' of a traditional natural history museum whilst also being really accessible and fun for kids. The only let down is the cafe, which is limited to cold foods (although a decent range). I think it is more enjoyable than the one in London.

A wonderful museum to spend the day. Get a chance to witnesses the world culture right in front of you. Allow yourself at least a half day or day to get the maximum out of your visit. Its free entry but I highly encourage you to give them a donation. As they keep the museum very nicely. Lots and lots of things to learn. I would definitely recommend this museum to anyone. Thank you.

A great place for kids and adults. Free, although they ask for a donation. There is a nice little cafe inside on the second floor. Beautiful architecture and some amazing exhibits.

What a great day out with kids. Last visited 2 years ago and this time around noticed lots of changes and loved it. Kids had an amazing time and they were so excited about the history. Layout of the museum is really good, simply takes you through everything easily. Not too crowded even at weekends.

A really enjoyable experience. Very historic and education. So much to learn about and see. Been here as a child and also as an adult. Love seeing the skeletons of the different animals not just the dinosaurs but horses elephants and giraffes.

I had some spare time in Oxford so thought I would visit a few museums... I ended up spending all my time here and in the Pitt Rivers museum inside. Fantastic architecture and fascinating exhibits 😊

Absolutely love this museum. I take my children at least twice a year. It's a fun and cheap day out with the family. It's especially fun during the school holidays as they regularly run fun activities for children usually daily. They have added a cafe upstairs but on a nice day you can quite easily have a picnic on the green outside. Brilliant day out.

This is a great place for kids and adults. The building is wonderful - cast iron and glass, creating an unusually light environment for a Victorian museum. Exhibits are fun and good for all ages. Dinosaur buffs will have a treat !

An amazing museum. So much to see, hear about, read and just feel part of. You can be transported into another world. There is a lot of space, and you can take your time. Something for everyone. They also hire out meeting rooms - but ask about size and cost. I don't think they would provide good, e.g. lunch, but tea/coffee facilities are available, and you could take sandwiches. They close, if I remember rightly, at 5:30pm so I'm sure you can't hold evening meetings. Excellent venue and great day out.

Great way to spend 3 or 4 hours. Amazing exhibits for kids and adults alike. If you came 5 times there would still be a lot you missed the first time. See the fossilised Dinosaurs. FREE ENTRY!

Lots to see and family colouring event in centre Isle. Good café overlooking museum ground floor. Very busy and noisy at half-term. Pitt-Rivers museum is accessed through the centre Court and has fascinating collection of artifacts and needs more time to see. Entrance e is free for both museums and are a short walk from Oxford centre.

The first thing to look at on entering is the building architecture, in particular the roof🙂. Although the museum may be classified as small there is an extraordinary number of exhibits to see. To properly view all of the items, read the info available and watch the videos would surely take several visits. The cafe provides basic but welcome refreshments. It would be worth paying a decent entry charge so it's fantastic to find that entry is free.

Definitely fantastic ! Perfect to visit with kids ! A must go in Oxford! You can see a lot of interesting very old exhibits! In this museum you can touch so many old stones and animals. This is so nice for little children! You can also eat and drink there! Check out the Pitt River museum in the back. It's quite interesting too.

There's never enough time to look round a museum in one afternoon, and this is no exception. The building itself is fantastic and the exhibits are great, with a super layout. Not only the natural history museum but through a door at the back you find the anthropology museum too - make sure you take a moment to look at the scene as you walk through through the door, jam packed with artifacts from across the globe. We were sorry to leave and will be back to do the two-thirds we didn't get to see.

Such an exciting place to visit, learn and explore. We were a group of 5 adults and two kids and everyone enjoyed thoroughly. We loved the fact that some of the pieces said "please do touch". We spent about 2 and a half hours there.

Superb museum right in the centre of Oxford, great for kids, is free and has the also superb Pitt Rivers museum adjoining it. Firstly the building is impressive, it's like a mini version of the natural history museum in London with a high ceiling, multiple terraces overlooking the many fossils, skeleton, and stuffed animal exhibits. Many of the animals encourage you to touch and there are plenty of impressive animals on display such as a brown bar, crocodile, Tyrannosaurus rex, elephant skeletons, and many more. As this is all in a single room it's easy to answer around at your leisure and peruse all the interesting exhibits. There are plenty of activities for the kids with clear explanations, there is a live bee hive on the top floor, lifts to all floors, and a cafe. Best of all its free, donations are welcome of course and the equally superb Pitt Rivers museum is at the rear, which is also free. Great day out for kids and adults alike.

Amazing museum and offers so many wonderful pieces to view and learn from the past.. from dinos to bees and it's all free!!!! Great for kids and grown ups too. You won't be disappointed. The use of park and ride I to Oxford is a great help too.

Beautiful building filled with amazing specimens. My 2yr old daughter was fascinated by the dinosaurs and all the animals she's not seen before; asking what each one was. The size of the museum is perfect, not so big you feel like you won't see everything, but enough that you could return and still learn something new.

This is a small museum, but has a very good collection in a beautiful location. With an interest in dinosaurs, I was especially happy with some of their casts. The suggested donation to enter was 5 pounds (voluntary) and in my opinion, well worth it. If you happen to be caught in bad weather while in Oxford, I'd certainly suggest that it would be a good way to spend an hour or more undercover.
