The Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida is a children's museum in Panama City, Florida. The exhibits include interactive science and natural history displays, play areas for young children, live reptiles and a nature trail. The center also features an on-site preschool.
The idea for the museum began in 1967 as a children's museum, with leadership by the Junior Women's Club and the Women's Club of Panama City. Temporary displays began in 1969.
The museum has been improving every time we visit. Keep up the good work

For me, this museum isn’t the best, but my 6 year old son loves it. I do not feel it offers good exhibits. I found one exhibit not working and had a date from 1997. They do have a couple of updated exhibits, like the Beam by EyeClick in the Hands On exhibit and the reptile area. The outside area is run down, not really sure what the butterfly garden is. I wish it had more working exhibits. I am used to the Orlando Science Center and the museums in Chicago. I can see a lot of potential though.

Great variety of indoor and outdoor activities. The staff was very curteous. Our kids loved seeing the bunny they could pet!

The Science and Discovery Center has had a facelift! The new reptile exhibit adds an opportunity to get up close with some interesting animals. New paint plus new technology equals a great place to take my grands!

For me, this place was not very impressive as museums go; however, my children (3 and 6) loved it and it was relatively cheap. Overall, it is a great thing to do if you are in the area and have kids to entertain. Highlights: They have a couple of big wooden vehicles out front for kids to play on; Bun Bun the bunny waiting for pets; a tree swing and "hideouts;" wooden horse, donkey, and ship to play on; sand pit for digging for dinosaur fossils; picnic tables; STEAM fun inside with AC and bathrooms; and a lovely narrow trail. The sand pit actually had a buried dino to uncover, so that was cool. There are a couple of historic buildings to look at. Drawbacks: mosquitoes, ants that bite, and being outside in the hot Florida sun and humidity. Did i mention it was hot and humid? And mosquitoes? The girls wanted to visit again.
