The Coulée verte René-Dumont or Promenade plantée (French for tree-lined walkway) or the Coulée verte (French for green course) is a 4.7 km (2.9 mi) elevated linear park built on top of obsolete railway infrastructure in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France. It was inaugurated in 1993.
The Promenade plantée is an extensive green belt that follows the old Vincennes railway line. Beginning just east of the Opéra Bastille with the elevated Viaduc des Arts, it follows a 4.7 km (2.9 mi) path eastward that ends at a spiral staircase leading to the boulevard Périphérique beltway. At its west end near the Bastille, the parkway rises 10 m above the surrounding area and forms the Viaduc des Arts, over a line of shops featuring the work of specialized craftsmen. The shops are located in the arches of the former elevated railway viaduct, with the parkway being supported atop the viaduct. This portion of the parkway runs parallel to the avenue Daumesnil. The parkway intersects the Jardin de Reuilly near the rue Montgallet and descends to street level. At that point, it becomes a grassy mall and then follows the old railway direction below street level towards the east, passing through several tunnels. As it reaches the rue du Sahel, it splits, with one portion continuing to the beltway, and the other terminating in the square Charles-Péguy along the former path of a branch line that once linked to the Petite Ceinture railway.

One of the most unique walks you can have in Paris. This used to be an aquaduct, now it's a dedicated elevated walkway . Great street art on the walls and overall an amazing experience that tourists don't know about.

I really liked this relatively new attraction: an elevated pathway from the Bastille to the Bois de Vincennes following a disused railway line. It’s a pleasant walk, and I would have liked to have gone the full length. Another time perhaps?

It's like NY High Line Park, but in Paris. Goes all the way from the city center to the "Périphérique" in the east. Admire architecture from a few stories up, take one of the exits to stop for a drink, enjoy some relaxing moments on a public bench, do some fitness in an open air work-out area, shape up with some running... the sky is the limit!

Free elevated walkway along an old railway at rooftop level giving unique views. Great way to spend an hour walking from Jardin Reilly to Bastille.

Like the high line in NYC! Great place to chill and relax. Be sure to check out the art and craft stores located in the arches under the park.

Outstanding parkway over the busy streat. An old railway that was converted to a very pleasant pedestrian path, ideal for walking and jogging. Similar to the famous High line in New York. Take a break for a beautiful, relaxing walk.

Beautiful walk in the heart of Paris, the promenade plantée is an old railway track transformed into a garden, with some restaurants along the way. It is possible to access from different points in between Dausmenil and Bastille. Definitely recommended. There are several benches along the way for a picnic.

“Le Promenade Plantée” or the “Coulée Verte” is a 4.7km elevated Park built on the top of the obsolete in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France. According to Wikipedia, it was inaugurated in 1993. We found this place while researching online and immediately thought it could be a great place to discover. Its a totally FREE activity that gives you a beautiful overview os the streets of Paris with all amazing buildings. The park is easily accessed by metro. We recommend to visit on a nice day, or at least without rain, which could be tricky in Paris. Luck was on our side since it was a beautiful sunny day when we visited. We appreciated the nice street views. Consider this place to take cool pictures of the green alley and beautiful buildings around. We recommend it because it’s a really cool and green space in the middle of Paris. Many locals go for a walk or get their daily dose of jogging. To rest, you can sit on one of the benches and fill up your water at the water fountain. We noticed shopping stores just down the entrance, but we didn’t stop to take a look. Our Ratings Serge: 4 Eli: 4 Recommend: Yes, It’s a really cool and green space in the middle of Paris with amazing view of Paris streets.

Lovely walking path. Impressively long. Not a lot on it, but nice to be elevated with a bit of a view.

Super nice place where to walk for a Sunday break from the chaotic Parisian life. During the walk you can look at the super nice and fancy Parisian houses. My favourite spot in Paris.

Fun walk and lots of local plants. The kids loved all the roses. They also thought the playground was great ... and the ice cream was even better

One of the most wonderful city-park in the world. Looks like and old train track converted in a path. One of the better examples of urban planning, development, city and vegetation.

Escape the fuss below and take a stroll on this elevated walking passage with plants and flowers. A great place to enjoy your take away lunch, take a walk with your stroller, or jogg. Plus for some reason it is not so crowded. Unsure whether or not there are alevators up there, I took the stairs... Situated very close to Bastille and Gare de Lyon

Not bad it is. Closed 🔐, often it is. Useful, A tram 🚋 would be. Before, that what this void was. A new 🚋, Downstairs, they will build. Expensive, seems to be The price.
