The Musée de Montmartre (English: Montmartre Museum) is located in Montmartre, at 8-14 rue Cortot in the 18th (XVIII) arrondissement of Paris, France. It was founded in 1960 and was classified as a Musée de France in 2003. The buildings were formerly the home of several famous artists, including Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Suzanne Valadon.
The museum is housed in buildings which are three centuries old, the Hotel Demarne and the Maison du Bel Air. The 17th-century French actor Rosimond acquired the house in 1680.
Beautiful old house restored into a museum that brings Montmartre's artists of old to life. There are a few studios, made up as they would have been at the time. The audio tour is decent, but I preferred to just look at the paintings, despite not being able to read the signs with them (I don't speak French). You're not allowed to bring backpacks in but they have a drawer at the desk that I believe is free.

Have to say one of the best museums I've ever been in. Gallery style plus immersive, don't worry at the slow start, stay with the full experience, take your time and you won't be disappointed.

I would definitely recommend stopping by this museum if you are in Montmartre! I enjoyed learning more about the history of the area and walking around the grounds. I went during an exposition on Montmartre in cinema which I really loved. The exposition will be going on until 14 Jan 2018. I went in mid Nov so the garden wasn't as lush but there was no crowd.
