Loved this little square. The atmosphere was great, soft jazz playing from a café across the street, slightly raining and beautiful stars. That moment there was pretty magical. I bet this place looks awesome during the day too. I would definitely go back, and maybe grab a beer next time.

This is one of the must visit spots in Paris. Forget for a minute the expensive beer - maybe up to 9.50 for 500ml - and being bothered by artists to draw your portrait. This is the beating heart on Montmartre. You can feel the history in the cobbles beneath your feet. You HAVE TO sit in one of the bars here for an hour and enjoy watching the world go by -you'll see a little bit of everything. So go on. Say 'What the hell'. Take out a ten euro note and order a large beer from the red bar in the corner and maybe even give in to having a dodgy caricature made of you. It'll pribably be one of the high spots of your trip.

Pretty cozy at night with coffee and the pictures. Beautiful shops and restaurants. Worth going for a walk around.

There's a bit of everything in this little square! I felt overwhelmed sitting there, drinking coffee and watching artists make portraits of tourists. This is definitely the most romantic and poetic spot in Paris!

I just love the square and its atmosphere with all the portraitists there and the little shops with hats, scarfs, ceramics and little gifts, coffee shops and restaurants... Yes it's a touristic area of course, how cannot it be when you raise your eyes and look at the impressive Sacre-Coeur?! Love it

A really cool place to look at art. Ive included some pics from the area, we decided to climb the millions (obviously an over exaggeration but you get my drift) right to the top and the views looking after Paris was beautiful. Once we got to Place du Tertre there was a little Christmas market where we could purchase hand made art. It was a beautiful little market with lights everywhere. Next to it was a lovely huge cathedral (see pictures) and there was a Starbucks right in the market place too! Awesome for the coffee lovers! If you go at Christmas time like we did, you will find the most beautiful smelling fresh mulled wine for sell just for 2€! Brilliant!. During my stay, this little hidden gem was a lovely find and one of my favourite places to visit. I wish I was able to buy some artwork! Definitely would of been worth it!

For all Parisian lovers, this is the beautiful place not to be missed! A great part of our history set in a hill. Very touristic of course, but how could you avoid this area? Go in a French brasserie, or take a ice cream, a coffee or nothing, but go to admire Paris from one of its "roof".

We loved this area in paris. Lots of artists. Lots of beautiful paintings that i enjoyed looking at by couldn't afford or even if i could there was no way to get it home in my luggage! Some artists are a little pushy to do a drawing of you, you can talk them down a bit in price though. We loved the little souvenir shops around as well.

If you don't visit this place during your stay in Paris, you pretty miss what it's all that makes this city so romantic and artistic. I prefer the quiet hours, like early in the morning. Drink your cafe while watching the local artists painting the atmosphere of the place on the canvas. Enjoy the moment.

Lovely atmosphere. A small square with a lot of different printers with different styles. A realistisk black and White picture (A3) takes about 45 min and around 60 euros but is well worth it.

If you're going to Paris, go here. Amazing little place, get drawn by an artist, buy or just look at beautiful art. It's gorgeous, the only hard part are the stairs getting up 😥 they are knackering! There is a cable car thingy but I've never used it, like the challenge. Also, there is a Dali museum at the top which is well worth a visit, it's fairly quiet with detailed information and some inspired art work.

Great little place. Some great art however lots of artists who will offer to draw you wandering around, some are better than others and they can be very expensive. One bald artist in particular was very rude saying to our faces that we were all tight tourists because we did not want to sit and be drawn! Great food despite this and we did go several times. Wonderful atmosphere.

This square is a highlight of this bohemian region of Paris. It's basically cafes and artists, with a sprinkling of souvenir shops. It's wonderful to just walk around and watch the artists at work, or admire art already created. Even the most stoic of visitors may be tempted to buy a piece. You can also have your portrait drawn while you wait, or whimsically decide to have a caricature done. But we noticed some serious art spanning a broad variety of styles. A wonderful place to spend some time. It's a short walk from the much more visited Sacre Coeur church. Best accessed by public transportation, but it's a bit of a walk from the nearest metro stop, and it's up hill, so be prepared.

That place have a soul and atmosphere. For me it was like a heart of town. Almost you can feel it in the air. Amazing experience.

It's a kind of place you just have to visit once when you're staying in Paris. Or maybe twice, once during the day and at night time. Souvenirs, terraces and restaurants, but for all the artists that want to make your portrait! There are many different types and styles: colorful, black and white, caricatures or real life style. At night time it's a kind of magical place. And of course you have to negotiate the best price for your piece of art! Just have a look around and see what you think of it yourself.

What a neat hidden area at the highest point in Paris. We enjoyed walking around the plaza to see all the local artists and the live portrait painting. Had dinner at one of the restaurants in the center of the square. A must see!

I specifically wanted to go here to buy some art. There are a couple dozen artists working here. There is a whole row of portrait artists with people getting their portraits done. And then there are other artists painting landscapes, abstracts, people, etc. We bought one medium sized painting for 80 Euro and were able to pay by credit card (although cash is obviously preferred). After that we headed away from the square as we didn't plan to eat dinner there.

Great place! Enjoyed all the artists and their paintings. All the artists here are licensed, and the one I talked to stated that they can only sell their own art. It is a small square so can get really crowded, but definately worth going. Cafes are in center of the square only in the summer.
