For any tourist out there, this is the place to go! The tour is informative, funny and not too long. You have plenty of time to look around and even make your own souvenir coin! The big gold coin is a sight to see and the gold pour... Amazing..Really really top quality tour. I tend to find long and monotone tours sooo boring and this is neither. The guy that pours the gold and gives the tour really knows his stuff.

One of the smaller historical mints that is still actively producing commemorative coins. The staff are friendly, helpful and full of knowledge. You can ask them almost anything and they will be happy to try to help. The site offers daily tours around the mint (approx. Every hour) and the price is reasonable. The tour explains not only the history of the site but also covers a brief history of the gold rush in Western Australia along with some replica and real gold nuggets. The Perth Mint claims to be home to the worlds largest gold coin ever produced by weight (1 tonne). Site tours include an informative demonstration on how the mint used to melt down gold into liquid form and produce the gold bullion bars we know today. I highly recommend signing up to the tour as there are plenty of areas you will be able to access as part of the tour.

Great, must-see attraction for anybody visiting Perth, and wanting to understand why the city is even here in the first place! Make sure to see the gold pouring demonstration and try to lift the 6kg gold bar. If you've got a fat wallet then there's some lovely jewellery and mementos for sale in the shop.

Good for a visit and plenty of interesting info to learn. Lots of coins. Lots of gold, including a giant one tonne gold coin. See gold heated in a furnace then poured into a mould. Worth booking a tour and the guide provides plenty of interesting facts in an entertaining fashion.

Stopped in while exploring Perth. Was absolutely brilliant. Nominal fee for the tour, and very well worth it and would classify the mint as a 'must see'. Highly recommended.

Pay $19 for +/- an hour tour and worth every penny. It started with gold rush history in 1800's, it's remarkable to learn that this land had so many nuggets, some even as large as 18kgs. Short movie was also very entertaining to learn where the gold mineral actually came from. Center of attraction is one ton gold coin that currently worth $62 million. The tour ended with gold bar making process, from melted form into solid form.

Mint = awesome, Cafe = token If you want something nice to eat to round off your afternoon, go elsewhere. They’re not bad, they’re just... very meh. Food is sometimes quite stale.

I was initially a bit put off by a $19 AUS entry fee for an hour long tour... but decided I really wanted to see it. I am so glad that I did! What they don't tell you is that once the tour itself is over, that you can return to the exhibits and spend as much time as you want. You can also watch the live pour of a gold brick more than once. I watched it twice, done by two different people, and learned different things both times. The gold pour is the real highlight. The gathered audience is guaranteed to ooh and ah at least twice during the presentation. The other displays are quite interesting, also. A few of the largest gold nuggets in the world on on display... just a thin layer of plexiglass from your nose. Any you can actually pick up a gold brick in your hand, and feel how surprisingly heavy it is. (I smile remembering TV westerns where they rob the train and throw several gold bars into a saddlebag and throw it over their shoulder.) They do have the world's largest gold coin, with a ton of gold in it, and it is impressive to think what it is worth. It is on display in the open, in the center of a 12 foot diameter table that you can walk around. Unfortunately, they told me that free sample day was yesterday.

I did not realize that I would have to join a guided tour to see the mint. So I was confined to the tourist shop. Nice displays but way out of my price range. Since my last review I have been to the mint again and have gone on the tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I think older children would enjoy it, say about 8+ lovely to see the gold pour and the worlds largest gold coin 1000kg not something you could carry out in your pocket. Lots of amazing pure gold nuggets to see. You can also see coins being minted and get a personalized coin as well. Great fun and very interesting.
