ร situata in centro cittร all'intersezione tra il Norodom Boulevard ed il Preah Sihanouk Boulevard all'interno di una grande rotatoria. Alto 20 metri ha la forma di uno stupa a fior di loto richiamando lo stile del tempio khmer Angkor Wat. Il monumento รจ stato progettato dall'architetto cambogiano Vann Molyvann.
Very big monument with a large walkway right opposite to it. It's in the middle of a busy roundabout so you can't go close to it and see. You can still take pictures from the other side of the road. Opposite to it there a large walkway where you can see lots of people playing and jogging. Good place to see in the evening, plus there are lots of cafes around if you want to grab a bite.

Would be beautiful to visit at night. However, we visited this during the day. Still a great monument to drive or walk around. This was a significant moment in time when Cambodia gained independence in 1953.

The Independence Monument was built in 1958 in order to remember the gain of independence from France in 1953.The monument is huge and you can walk or drive around. Avoid the traffic hours as it is a very busy area.

Impressive monument - worth a look. I'd recommend you go on a city tour or with a guidebook so that you get some of the history at the same time - the monument itself is not something that would take more than a couple of minutes to take in.

The night view is fantastic. You can experience it to the fullest if you park you vehicle aside and start walking instead. There is park nearby so you can exercise and you can walk around to shop too.

Beautiful monument, bigger than I thought, but unfortunately you cannot step around it of through it like before. It's guarded up so you can only see it from the park view or you can ask your tuktuk driver to drive around it for you to take pictures lol

In my 2nd visit to Phnom Penh I finally made my time to take a stroll to Independence Monument and it was evening. Turned out it was worth the time. The lights themselves are already a great view in the evening. The park near the monument is also so spacious that you can walk and jog conveniently. PP is so hot during the day so probably going there in the evening is an option

One of the greatest places to remind us of how we get this far since the French Protection in 1952.

A good place to hangout at night. It's busy and main square. Well there is no place to sit (seems like a strategy of local govt )but it looks good at night.
