El Palacio Real de Nom Pen, Camboya, es un conjunto de edificios en donde se encuentra la residencia de los reyes de Camboya desde su construcción en 1866. Su nombre completo en jemer es Preah Barom Reachea Vaeng Chaktomuk.
Su construcción comenzó tras la decisión del rey Norodom de cambiar la capital real de Oudong a Nom Pen a mediados del siglo XVII. Se construyó en el antiguo emplazamiento de una ciudadela llamada Banteay Kev.
A well maintained Palace. The king still lives here, so you can't access the entire Palace. You can see the golden meeting hall from outside and the highlight is the emerald Buddha. There are guides available inside the place and charge 10$ same as the entry fee. Make sure you select a guide who can speak English clearly. There are restrictions on the clothing that you can wear inside so make sure to check it out before you go there to avoid buying clothes at the entry gate.

Very beautiful palace. A must see when in Phnom Penh. Entrance for foreigners is $10 and you are not supposed to enter the palace with a tank top. You can purchase T-shirts inside the entrance gate for a fair price of $3 though. Taking a tour guide is recommended. You get a lot of insight to the history of the palace and the culture of Cambodia. Tour guide is $10 for a whole group: 4 people pay $2,50 each.

The palace is of course fabulous. But you cannot criticize the King or risk up to 3 years in jail following a recent law passed by the peace loving democratic government that has ruled Cambodia for too long. Don’t be surprised if your guide whispers his or her comments to you as a result. Go visit for sure but know what’s going on in this country.

Royal Palace is a nice place to visit as it is real Palace where our present King family living there. To respect him, all tourists has to be wear the proper clothes not short sleeves and short pants. You will have to walk around to see silver pagoda, meeting Hall, beautiful Garden ... and I love the Romdoul tree there.

Very nice palace, the buildings are very impressive and well preserved. In the entrance to the palace there are a lot of guides offering a guided tour, we didn't take one. However, I think a guide will make the palace way more interesting if you just walk by yourself. The main reason for that is there are not many explanations along the way.

Not worth $10USD! The small portion of the palace that was not closed off to the public was pretty to see, however were unable to enter any of the exuberant buildings advertised. We therefore could walk in one small garden square around a temple, then were ushered into another part that was filled with the "exhibits" which were not only underwhelming but too hot to stand. They gave free water near the exit but it tasted off to us so we handed it out on the street outside of the gate.

The Throne Hall maybe is the most impressive. The Dancing Hall can be seen from outside the riverside quay, because it is used too for the King see outside parades. Around 8 usd the ticket. A SUPERB MAGICAL PLACE. MAJESTIC. The palace was absolutely beautiful. There was gold everywhereeee. A big place also, but rather hot when I went there. The ticket fee was cheap. Wearing appropriate clothes is a must. It was definitely not my first time visiting a palace and believe me, I am not exaggerating when I say I was totally blown away. I wish I could spent more time there.

Beautiful Absolutely beautiful buildings. Very very hot when we went, there is some shade but take water! It’s very open and the heat beats off the concrete! Modest dress is necessary or you won’t get in. Shorts that cover the knees as well as tops that come to the elbow are a must.

The royal palace at Phnom Penh Cambodia is one of the major sights in the city! You enter through a nondescript gate and get your tickets. Of course in US dollars as is everything in this city!! Several buildings in the Thai Kamboj Buddhist style greet you and some are vertical pagodas! The main palace building is spectacular especially the roof frescoes! Also not to be missed is the silver pagoda with the temple of the emerald Buddha in it. Outside the palace, the waterfront park and nearby national museum are also popular

Very beautiful palace however $10 per person for a family of 5 and then they ask for another $10 for a guide. Sorry the entrance fee is expensive enough. Some incredibly ornate buildings and able to enter some of the buildings to see costumes, furniture, decorated pieces etc but i think a little over priced in general.

Royal Palace is definitely not to be missed for a visit to Phnom Penh. Fine architecture and decorations... you pay for one ticket price and get to explore the whole complex. When we visit on a Friday morning, there are not too many tourists - just one or two tour groups so we can walk around and take photos comfortably. Note that the complex is closed from 11am to 2pm. Dress modest for entry!

Sorry to give this such a bad review because it seems like a beautiful place, but, myself (female) and my friend (male) were stopped on the way in, we were both in a t-shirt and shorts, I was asked to cover up (by a bunch of men) luckily I had bought a full length skirt in the market earlier as they were selling the most horrid pants (or potato sacks as I would call them) for $10 if you didn't have something to cover up in. We got to the ticket desk and it was $10 per person (person being anyone over 6 years old). I couldn't justify it, especially after feeling like a lesser citizen for my gender, if it was free admission or even $5 I would have bit my tongue to see one of the main attractions in Phnom Penh.

Nice place to visit, take a guide to help you understanding Khmer/royal Khmer culture. You have to know that the Royal Palace closes between 11h00 and 13h00, so plan your day consequently. You will discover a lovely and quite place in a noisy city.
