Wat Ounalom (Khmer: វត្តឧណ្ណាលោម; Khmer pronunciation: [ʋɔət ʔunnaːloːm]) (also Wat Unnalom and several other spellings) is a wat located on Sisowath Quay in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, near the Royal Palace of Cambodia. As the seat of Cambodia's Mohanikay order, it is the most important wat of Phnom Penh, and the center of Cambodian Buddhism. It was established in 1443 and consists of 44 structures. It was damaged during the Khmer Rouge period but has since been restored. The main complex houses a stupa that contains what is believed to be an eyebrow hair of Buddha and an inscription in Pali.
Buddhist temple complex with lots of golden painting on statues, walls and decoration. Watch the nicely decorated floor also. This is one of Phnom Penh's oldest pagodas and with a particular location. Shooting pictures inside is allowed.
It’s the first temple we visited in Phnom Penh. It was just refurbished with the golden painting on every tower and door. Looks amazing and with history background. Photography is allow to take inside.
It’s Amazing Wat Ounalom located in Phnom Penh City of Cambodia.
This is a nice little respite from the bustle of the capital. There are also vendors on the western most wall selling haircuts and drinks.
Nice place with and reasonable price for entry.
It was also nice place for who love to see the Buddha statue inside of temple. There are many restaurants around here. But, it was unlucky for me that I came too early on morning. Because restaurants here open around 11 am.
Okay place. The Wat looks nice from the outside but don't expect too much if you're a tourist. I had the feeling that they prefer people to come for prayers rather than visiting. No explaining signs or guides around. At the moment a third of the Wat is undergoing construction work.
Fun fact: there is an ancient temple made from sandstone in the pagoda's compound. Sad fact: they modified that ancient temple that it is almost impossible to recognise that it is an ancient temple. This pagoda is a wealthy pagoda. It house so many stupas of scholars and great Khmer people. Overall landscape: it is nice.
Interesting place. Major temple and monastry. Nice to walk around.
