Incredible what progress they've made. One of my old childhood treasures so wonderful to revisit after the refurbishment.
It is good to see in that the effort has been made to retain local heritage. It is a nice place to go and sit down, take some time out and relax. Nice place for families to go and have a picnic.
I visited this museum as a fan of Lord Byron. Although there were only a few things specifically about Byron's time at the school on display, it was great to get a sense of what school life would have been like for the pupils in the late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth centuries. It covers a lot of ground in such a small space, and the lady who was operating the gift shop was very friendly and helpful! I must make a point of visiting again at some point soon.
Beautifully presented museum. The buildings are the star - old Manor House, with moat, barns and other buildings well restored. Contents tell history of Harrow area from neolithic to present, with emphasis on last 100 years. Cannot necessarily enter all buildings as large Barn may be hired out for events, and Granary may be in use for school visits. Nice new cafe also. Easy access and parking close by.
I visited this place a couple of weeks ago and found it quite nice to look and to explore However it is rather limited in what it can offer during the week days of the year and the show I went to his every 12 months So on that basis I can recommend it
It was an event day at the museum...on a beautiful warm day our family enjoyed all the activities like May pole and Morris dancing and a variety of food.
Beautiful family and child friendly place. Loved the museum and they make the finest coffee I've ever got. Check it out!
Went to the Park on May Day - it was well attended. Was pleasantly surprised at the new design/layout and facilities. Great place to go for afternoon tea.
Great little museum. Very family friendly and free to visit. Good café in separate building. Highly recommended.
Went to the Museum today, now that the restoration is complete. It has been beautifully done. I remember when the building was just a ruin, and now it’s a real part of local history. There’s also an exhibition of Whitefriars glass on just now, and plenty to keep children amused. The new cafe is reasonably priced, and the food is good. The visit plus a snack would occupy about 2 hours, more in summer when the weather is better.
I'm writing this review having visited on the first day of opening, Dec 2017, since it's restoration with money from the National Lottery. They've done a lovely job. For a small local museum there's quite a lot to see. I'd say they've got it right in terms of not overfilling cabinets with objects. This may be partly because Harrow don't have a large collection of local artifacts to begin with, whatever the reason, you could spend an enjoyable 90 minutes if you wanted reading the info displays and looking at everything. The grounds are going to look lovely in the summer once the new plants have established themselves and there's a great café. Well done Harrow Museums, it was worth the wait.
A little known gem, free to walk around the manor House museum..... Local history. Or pay for a in depth tour. Cafe on site.
Great place to take children of all ages. Lots to see in the different sections of the museum. Free entry and parking. There is a good coffee shop and play area near by. They hold different events throughout the year and have a toddler session during the week.
