The Tryon Creek State Natural Area is a state park located primarily in Portland, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is the only Oregon state park within a major metropolitan area. The 645-acre (261Â ha) park lies between Boones Ferry Road and Terwilliger Boulevard in southwest Portland in Multnomah County and northern Lake Oswego in Clackamas County and is bisected from north to south by Tryon Creek. To the north, the park abuts the Lewis & Clark Law School campus.
The park includes hiking trails, a paved bicycle path, and horse trails. The 3-mile (4.8Â km) bicycle path, which runs along Terwilliger Boulevard on the east edge of the park to Lake Oswego, is part of the Portland metropolitan area's system of greenway trails known as the 40-Mile Loop. Near the main entrance off Terwilliger, part of the parking lot is devoted to horse trailers. Riders can choose between the 2-mile (3.2Â km) North Horse Loop and the 3-mile (4.8Â km) West Horse Loop. Hikers can use the bike path, the horse trails, and 8 miles (13Â km) of hiking trails. The paved 0.35-mile (0.56Â km) Trillium Trail, a loop furnished with drinking fountains and interpretive signs, can accommodate wheelchairs. Trillium Trail has benches and two viewing decks.
Nicely maintained, well-drained trails, some easy, many intermediate. Old growth trees, mossy rocks, streams and at least one waterfall. Plenty of birds and other wildlife, if you're quiet enough. The nature center is a little kids' delight! Book, nature themed toys and puppets, a few simple interactive museum-type displays and a large window with view of a collection of bird feeders. I credit this place with turning my young kid (then two years old) into a hiking enthusiast. Nature center also has a gift shop and a classroom where various programs are held. Kids "story and stroll" events weekly, too. The friends of Tryon Creek website has more info.

Beautiful park with excellent, maintained trails. Not surprising for a state park. Very helpful staff when I called and asked if we could get married there. We had a lovely, small, quick ceremony under the trees and it was spectacular.

A nice respite close to the city. It wasn’t very crowded for a Sunday morning. There is a paved loop excellent for wheelchairs, walkers and strollers. If you like a little more challenging course the unpaved North Trail has a section involving stairs but still easy if you have any experience trail hiking.

A very beautiful 2nd grown forest with nice multi difficulty tracks. You can set your own loop distance and elevation difficulty in a very green and quiet area. The trails are good for hikes, jogging, biking and horse back riding. The first time I came here I returned 3 days in a row. The visitor center is very helpful to give you a small intro and maps and info about the trails and safety instructions. It has very friendly staff and on occasionally they organize volunteer led educational awareness activities for children. An awesome place that I highly recommend.

Wow. This remains my favorite Portland park. Miles of trails, with decent ups and downs. Because it's busy, trail running can be stop and go, but the hiking is sublime. The nature center is cute, has clean bathrooms. The greenery is overwhelming! Go and enjoy! So beautiful.
