Soares dos Reis National Museum (Portuguese: Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis) is a museum, currently housed in the Carrancas Palace situated in the civil parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória, in the northern Portuguese city of Porto.
Founded in 1833, it is the first Portuguese national museum exhibiting collections of Portuguese art, including a collection by Portuguese sculptor António Soares dos Reis, from which the museum derives its name.
Nice museum. Beautiful and interesting sculptures, paintings and also the architecture of the building. There is much humidity on the walls of some sections: need to be reformed. Friendly staff.

I have never been to such a museum. The exhibitions were amazing with outstanding items on exhibition - I could spend days in here. But the stuff is unbelievable: I actually had to wait for 5 minutes to pay, no, there was no line - the cashier was on the phone with a private conversation. The stuff inside the place was shouting, yelling, talking loud... You het thepicture. I ran out back to my sanity...

This is a great art museum with a great exhibition of Portuguese naturalist painters in October 2017. Hopefully, it's more popular in peak times because there was nearly no one there and people are missing out on a gem!

The Museum would be much more interesting for tourists if at least half of the exhibits had translated descriptions.

No English description. Only 1 sentence for every painting/bust. No additional information. If there is a longer text, it is only available in Portuguese. The security personal keeps following you around at arms length. There is no way to appreciate the art if you feel like a prisoner. I could not see a pattern or a system behind the structure of the museum.

A most fantastic art museum. Plenty of trivia and treasures from the age of discovery and colonial trinkets, a wonderful historical collection, and a most insightful XIX and XX art collection. Greatly enjoyed the exibition and totally recommend to every traveler in Porto

The museum has a great collection to see the Portuguese art and history. The collection has a good informations for each one and the space build is big, beautiful and has a great atmosphere. There's no information about the free entrance for the residents of Portugal and the café isn't working when I was there.

A gorgeous collection of paintings and sculptures, which introduced me to some Portuguese artists whom I've fallen in love with (Henrique Pousao) ! Very cheap entrance fee too. Would need about 2 hours minimum to view the pieces comfortably.
